This beautiful watercolor has Jean Willhite's distinctively calligraphic signature in the lower right-hand corner and just "Willhite" printed in block letters on the lower left. It was purchased in Sioux Falls, S.D., but framed in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The scene looks like the western shoreline of Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin, but there's no evidence Jean Willhite ever painted in this area. Any help identifying the locale would be appreciated, as I would like to give it to a historical or cultural organization in that area in my will. Thank you.

I was honored to obtain a painting by Mrs. Troemel several years ago and I contacted her about it. We emailed back and forth several times and she let me know it was a commissioned piece she had painted for a family. I have it still today and was just thinking about her and her beautiful works of art. My condolences to the family. She was a lovely, gracious person and I will always remember her kindness to me.

We were just thinking about Jean when we checked Legacy to see that she had passed. We are so sorry to know that her wonderful light has left us. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to my mother-in-law, Arline Miller. We will miss her.

I see Jean's smiling face everyday. Her painting of St. Augustine that I have in my office brings me a piece of her joy.
May she now enjoy everlasting peace.

Jean was a true treasure. She touched so many and made this world a better place. We will miss her bright and vivacious smile. Her creative spirit will live forever in those she touched. May the arms of our Lord surround and comfort you dear friend. First Fridays will never be the same...until we meet again..
