Stephanie Kwolek was a pioneer - as a woman and as an inventor. She left behind a name and a legacy that won't be quickly forgotten, especially among those whose lives she touched. The works has lost an amazing woman, but her legacy makes the words penned by a wise man, ring true: "A good name is better than precious oil; and the day of death, than the day of one's birth."

I had the privilege and the pleasure of working with Stephanie after she had retired from DuPont. She was a excellent model of a successful woman in science and she was actively engaged with women's groups promoting science as a career path for women. My sympathies to the family for their loss.
