How fitting to have an online guest book - unlike most people of his generation (or even many baby boomers) Grandpa had a passion for computers and was an early-adopter of cutting edge hardware and software. I'm certain his was the first household in Ruther Glen, VA with dial-up. But I digress. My Grandpa Jake was a man of uncompromising integrity, knowledge, work ethic, and above all, high spirits. He was a progressive, a storyteller, a horticulturalist, a charmer, a mentor, a builder, a satirist, and a big bear of a man well into his golden years. He was incredibly generous and devoted to his family. The past few years were filled with adversity, and he would often tell me he felt as though he was a 21-year old mentally but was chained to some old man's body. Through it all he persevered and even in the last week of his life my father said he was focused on staging yet another comeback. What a champion. We could all wish to have half of this man's drive. I love you Grandpa - through the memories of the time we shared you will live with me always.

Mae - I was so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. He sounded like a terrific person who really loved life and all those around him. I hope that the wonderful memories you have of him are a comfort to you, your mother and your entire family now.

With sincere sympathy -

Annie
