Norm played at my wedding 30 years ago, and I still smile when I think about it. He and his band did a great job. Thank you, Norm!
Polka music will never be the same in central Wisconsin without Norm. Always smiling and welcoming everyone who came to listen, dance and have a great time. If he wasn't playing somewhere, you could always plan on him and Marlene showing up to support other bands. He will be missed by polka fans everywhere.

In 1963 I lived in Chicago and was a big fan of Lil Wally. We were getting married in Thorp, WI and needed a band for our wedding. My friend told us about Norm's band. We hired him. We never heard him play, but she said he sounds like Lil Wally. Norm wasn't sure he wanted to travel to Thorp with his band, but he did. Best thing we ever did, we all just loved him. This was in October of 1963 and the band couln't get home that night because of a heavy fog. Norm was upset because his wife(Marlene) was having their baby. Norm rest in peace.
Nearly 45 years ago I used to work with Bob Daniels at WFHR. I tried to sneak in some German polka bands one day when Bob was out. The switchboard lit up like Yankee stadium at night. No one wanted to hear that stuff. When I asked Bob what to do, he said, "just play Norm Dombrowski and the Happy Notes." He will be greatly missed.
Our deepest sympathy to Marlene and family. Norm, thank you for what you did for Polish Polka Music in WI.You and The Happy Notes were a huge influence on our music in our state. Rest in Peace, my friend.

We were disheartened to hear of Norm's passing. He was a wonderful man with a contagious smile. Our mother, Caroline Patoka (Konkol), enjoyed his music so much that she tried to attend as many church picnics as she could when he played. She is now embracing him in Heaven and is enjoying his polkas. He will truly be missed, but his music will live on. The Family of Caroline Patoka
My sincere sympathy to the Dombrowski Family. "Life, like the waters of the seas, freshens only when it ascends to heaven." Norman played at my nephew's wedding on the coldest, windy, snow filled evening November 2nd, many years ago. The polkas kept us dancing! He was a great musician!
Our deepest sympathy to the Dombrowski Family.
Dear Dombrowski Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Marlene and Family,
Words can not express how saddened we were to hear about Norm. He was so very special with his beautiful smile and that twinkle in his eye. His music will live in our hearts forever along with the special songs he'd play for us when he seen us dancing. The "Grand Marches" that we did were made famous by Norm and the band and were never the same unless done by them...that will always be special to us. Your family has left a mark in our hearts that will live forever. That polka band in the sky is blessed to welcome Norm to the ranks. Our sincere sympathy and prayers to all of you as our thoughts will be with you, so sorry we can't be there. God Bless
Stas'and Jody Lawcewicz Thorp, Wi.

Without question Norm was very special to mom and dad; Eddie & Chesterine. Over the years their love of Norm flowed over and continued in their daughters who came to appreciate this special cousin. Our love of music and learning how to dance can be attributed to those Dombrowski men who knew the importance of music in life and forever after. Wishing we could be there to wrap our arms around you. A big hug and a whispered "we care". With heartfelt love, Mark & Sharon (Dombrowski) Smith.

So shocked to hear of Norm's passing. We remember well the visit with you & he when we stopped by for some CD's and Norm gave them to us at "CLEARANCE" prices and we shared memories of past celebrations along with his music at my Dad's retirement party in particular. My Dad's (Clarence Helminiak) birthday was yesterday, March 8, and I'm sure he & my Mom were smiling when they had Norm play a waltz up in Heaven. Our sympathies to all of you - his smile and music and friendship will truly be missed.
One of the best. Always a friend.
My deepest sympathy goes out Marlene and the family. I will always cherish the times I did get to see Norm perform with his band and get a chance to visit with him.
