Reader, Marion E.

Marion E. Reader, age 92, of Stevens Point, WI, formerly of Almond, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home in Stevens Point, WI. She was born January 20, 1922 in Madison, WI; daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Hron) Malas. Marion grew up in Madison and graduated from Center High School. After high school, she attended UW-Whitewater and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in May 1943. On October 3, 1946, Marion married Glen F. Reader at Guardian Angels Rectory in Almond. Together they shared 37 years of marriage before his passing on June 5, 1984. Marion was a business high school teacher in Almond. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Badger Land Fertilizer and Frontier Packers, and was employed for 28 years at the Almond Post Office. Marion was a member of the American Legion Post Auxiliary #339 of Almond and St. Ann's Altar Society. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and many friends.

Marion is survived by a brother: John Malas of Madison, WI; a sister-in-law: Jo Ann Malas of Madison, WI; a brother-in-law: Laurin Reader of Chicago, IL; and a very dear friend: Jan Connor of Almond, WI and her six daughters: Joleen (Rich) Hunkins of Pulaski, WI, Juanita (Carl) Weinert of Oregon, WI, Janette (Dino) Calarco of Theresa, WI, JoAnn (Robin) Vercimak of Ringle, WI, Jelaine (Steve) Olsen of Janesville, WI, and JoRita (Jeff) Willis of Oregon, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Mary Malas; her husband, Glen Reader; one brother, James Malas; a sister-in-law, Anna Malas; two brothers-in-law, Edwin (Elsie) Reader and Wayne (Beulah) Reader; and a very dear friend, Joe Connor.

A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainfield, WI. Father Bill Menzel and Deacon Jim Trzinski, officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Almond Village Cemetery on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Wisconsin Lion's Camp in Rosholt, 3834 County Road A, Rosholt, WI, 54473. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.

A special thank-you to Ministry Home Care Hospice of Stevens Point for all of their help and support to Marion's loved ones. The special care Marion received will never be forgotten.
