We lived next door to Mary for two years when we were a young college couple with a baby, named Jenni. Mary babysat for us sometimes when we went to class. One of our daughter's first words was Mrs. Drake. Mary was always welcoming, filled with interesting conversation and ready for a beer if it was after 4:00. She taught us to make onion rings in a deep fryer when we smelled them coming from her back yard. We saw Mary in 2000 when we spent the weekend in Stevens Point. She recognized us immediately and even arranged for us to visit the house next door where we had lived. We exchanged Christmas cards and just now realized that we didn't receive one last year. We send sympathy to all of you and thank you for sharing your mother with us.
