Dr. Mark was one of my favorite Cardiologists to work with over my years at the VA. I remember when he was reluctant to learn to enter electronic notes and orders...I worked with him closely in the clinic at first....helping him where I could, then viola' he became a master with CPRS! I could ask him about ordering something for one of our vets, and in 5 min I could check the electronic chart to enter it--and he already had it done!! He was a great listener for a man who loved to talk! He could be serious, but he loved to tell funny stories. He really cared about all the patients he took care of and I have the deepest of respect for him. He will be missed. My prayers for all his family....he loved you all so much and bragged on his girls frequently. I am very thankful to have known such a caring, intelligent man.

It was an honor to have known Dr. Mark. He was a wonderful Doctor, husband, father and mentor to many. He will be missed but I know he will guide his family and friends from above.

I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of this wonderful human being. Dr. Mark was such an interesting man. His knowledge about things was amazing. If he didn't know something, you could bet your bottom dollar he would have the answer for you the next time he saw you.

He was a great friend and teacher to my husband during their years together at the VA. And he stayed a friend after my husband retired from the VA. He was one of the few people I could count on during the last months of my husband's life. He would take the time out of his day to either call or visit.

Dr. Mark, you will be truly missed by all. You left us too soon.

I grew up down the street from the Mark family (Dr. Alex's parents) in Kingston, ON Canada. Our families continue to stay in touch to this day. Alex and his family were all very generous and shared memorable visits and milestones throughout the decades. Alex was a wonderful person who I have no doubt touched many hearts, especially ours, with his kindness. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sandra, Jennifer, Aimee, and their families at this time. Our deepest sympathy to all,
Marcia Cooper-Penner & Keith Penner
