Meg,
My prayers are with you and the family.
May you feel God and Art watching over you all.

What a wonderful guy. So sorry to hear of his passing. Grew up with him and always admired his gentle demeanor. He was a remarkable person. My best to all, I celebrate knowing him.

Besides those things noted in the obituary as a fitting tribute to Art, we also want to recall that Art was a guitarist, singer and member of the Washington University Newman Center for many years with Fr. Jerome Wilkerson, our beloved “Jerry” or “JFW.” Since Fr. Jerry was in the final stages of Alzheimer's, we had no idea that Art would beat him to the beatific vision! And now Art is surely greeting Jerry.

Art was a faithful member of our Newman discussion group as well, never failing to add thoughtful questions and comments to the conversation. And no one can forget Art's wonderful laugh—and there were plenty of times in all our lives as young parents that life's absurdities prompted boisterous laughter!

It is hard to think of one member of a devoted couple without the other. Art and Meg's presence in our lives was always together, in unity. We will be reminded poignantly of Art every time we see Meg and their children and families—truly a great legacy.

Art was an amazing and wonderful man with the most gracious spirit. His smile and laughter captured us all. He was easy to approach and talk to. He would not say anything negative but find a way for there to be something positive in every situation. He could capture everyone around him when he spoke. I will miss seeing him in the office and sharing the staff lunches with him.
