I also had the privilege of playing many matches both as his partner and against Buddy at the Lake of the Ozarks. Buddy was in his early 80's when I first started playing with him and to this day is probably the best athlete I have ever played with or even against. He wasn't very moble by the time I first played with him, but his natural skills still were evidant every time someone hit the ball within a step or two of his location. I was in my early 40's at the time and he said he liked to play with me because " I still had legs". Even more impressive than his natural athletic skill was the fact that he was always a true sportsman and gentleman on the court. A class act to say the least. He is missed by many.

This comes about 4 years after Buddy's passing but just wanted to mention that I along with my family had the pleasure of meeting him after an Angels game back in 67' at Anaheim stadium. Really a great guy! Among many memories I have of him was the Belinsky no hitter that he and Don Wells announced in May of 62'. RIP Buddy!

Growing up in Indiana I was lucky enough to catch the TV broadcasts of MLB Game of the Week with Buddy and ol' Dizzy Dean.

He will be greatly missed by the fans.

God bless you and your family.

I am one of the few that had the pleasure of playing tennis with Bud at the Lake of the Ozarks. On one occasion, during a water break, we discussed the restriging of racquets. I made the comment of not having had my racquet restrung, and Bud's response was " why would you, you never use the strings". Certainly will miss his humor and friendship.
