One of the thing that made Furman Bisher great was the love of his family and friends in his home town of Denton, NC. He never forgot where he came from and what his family stood for.
Several yeaars ago when he was installed in the Denton (now) South Davidson Hall of Fame, he was very emotional.
Although 20 some years apart, we had shared the same first grade teacher. Mrs. Lala Feezor Smith always said he was the smartest child she ever taught, which told me where I stood. Furman kept in touch with her as long as she lived and would ofter visit with her when he was home. I extend my sincere sympathy to his entire family.
Jack Briggs, Denton, NC
