My deepest condolences to Dr. Sato's family and the uncountable number of people who loved, respected and admired him. For some reason I thought of him last night and to my sadness found that he had passed away. He was my pediatrician and I recall being so very disappointed when my parents told me I had to start seeing a "grown up's" doctor. Reading these tributes brought back fond memories of the birdsongs in my ear and asking when the injection would happen and being told it was already over. What a sweet, caring and dedicated man. I'll never forget him.

I would like to send belated condolences to Dr. George Sato. He was my pediatrician as a child and one simply could not ask for a better doctor. He was the BEST. Not only was he very smart, he set the benchmark for how a doctor should treat a young child. He was very friendly and funny.

When my son was born 20 years or so later I looked through the physicians directory and to my delight George was still practicing and you guessed it...he was just as funny.

George lit up any room he entered and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, and extend my sincere condolences to his family.

St. Louis has been very lucky to have such a fine pediatrician and educator. We will never, ever forget him.

May he rest in peace.

My uncle George, I miss you very much. Today I found this website, and I knew you passed away in 2013. Dr.Sato is my father's cousin who name is Fumio. He also died on November 13 2013. Thank you very much for your kindness.
Peace be with you forever. From Japan, Izumi.

Not only did Dr Sato treat me when I was little he was also my boys doctor when they were small. He was a great doctor and I loved the bird sounds when he looked in my ears. I was told by my parents one time I was real sick and he was willing to come to our home but had my parents come to him at his office that he opened up after hours. I loved him very much

Dr. Sato was the Pediatrician for my entire family. My oldest brother was one of his first patients after he'd opened his practice on Kingshighway. Later, he was the loving Pediatrician for my twin daughter's, out at St. Luke's. I loved him. Greatest Pediatrician ever! Rest now George, you sweet soul, you've taken care of all the children.

Dr. Sato took are of my brother and I when we were born 3 months premature back in the early 60s. He was an amazing doctor, and I had forgotten about the birdie song. I also love he gave balloons he gave out after the visit.

I loved the giant mirrors in the exam rooms. :)

Last week my sister talked about her trip to NC, to visit her grandson. She said she did something special for them to share. She whispers the little birdie sound in his ear like Dr. Sato did for all of his small patients. When she said this I could hear Dr. Sato whispering the little birdie song in my ear. So I went online to find that he had passed away a few years ago. I loved Dr. Sato and know everyone that knew him will miss him. He was so kind gentle and knowledgeable in his craft. My mother Jackie worked for him for a few years and she loved the time she spent with him and the staff in the office. I'll also miss the suckers we used to get prior to leaving.

A great American was lost when George passed. We will all miss the expertice that George provided as our pediatrician.

He was my pediatrician a long time ago. I really have good memories of his smiling gentle care. We had switched to him after a prior doc was gruff and I was frightened of him. That other doc would have a nurse hold me still just to swab my throat for a culture, but Dr. Sato would just chat with me a bit and gently swab and it was so quick I barely new it happened. Such a nice man and a good doctor.

Dr. Sato cared for myself and siblings. When he looked in your ears, he'd do a bird call. When he called for an injection, we recognised the word he used and they would still have to peel us from under the exam tables. He was a pleasure.
