I knew Marvin from our childhood at Gatewood. He was a kind person that even though I had not heard from in over 30 years, I will never forget him. We attended the same church in Wirth Ar, pastored by Al Mcclaran. I know that i will see him again in heaven because he was such a good christian. God Bless.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences for the family. Only knew Marvin and Gracie through the Scott Catholic Chapel. Always had pleasant greetings and conversations. Will miss them.
Our deepest condolences to the family. Marvin was a good friend to many people.
We are so saddened to learn of the loss of both Marvin and Grace. They lived across the street from us for 6 years and were very nice, kind neighbors. Our deep condolences to their sons and family.
We first met Ate Grace and Kuya Marvin at the Fil-Am clubhouse. They
welcomed us in their family and treated us like one of their own. Ate
Grace was a very charming, soft-spoken, caring, and loving; she always
had a mom-like smile on her face. Kuya Marvin seemed always serious
would always make funny remarks. They made an impact on our lives that
is beyond any words. It has been days since we heard the terrible
and it still seems like an awful dream that just won't end.
In all of this, we trust in God, and are sure that they were angels
sent, and are gone now because their job on Earth has been
We will treasure all the good memories we had to spend with them and as
much as it hurts not to see them again, we know that they are sitting
right by God and are looking at us from heaven. To Ate Grace and Kuya
Marvin, we love you!!!!
To Edwin, Andrew, and Jonathan and your loving family:
We are praying for you and stay strong during this time of sadness.
Your parents were an amazing couple, friend, and confidant; I could
imagine how great of a parent they were. We love you!!

I was very shocked to hear about Marvin's death. Although, I have never met him, I felt like I knew him and the boys from Grace. I work for Madison County Health Dept.and recently saw Grace in Nov. at a training in Litchfield. Her eyes always lit up when she spoke of her husband, sons, and grandbabies. I especially remember her speaking about how proud Marvin and her were of her son that was in the military. You all are in my prayers.
We are sorry to hear about the passing of Marvin and Grace. Please accept our deepest condolence. We pray for the repose of their souls and that God grant their sons and loved ones the strength at this most difficult time.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. I'll keep you all in my prayers along with the immediate recovery of Grace. God Bless
Today we had a very beautiful funeral Mass at the fantastic St Clare's church in O'Fallon. Many of Marvin and Grace's relatives and friends were there to witness him being laid into the hands of our Lord. It was a testament to his goodness and his high regard in the community that there were so many in attendance. The atmosphere in the Church, the photo displays of his life, the beautiful flowers, and the wonderful spread of food to share afterwards were each elements of an enthralling commemoration of a very special guy. We are all diminished with his passing, and all who have known him should reflect on the example of integrity and decency has shown, and try to emulate him. As we pray for Marvin’s entry through the gates of heaven, let us not forget that Grace is still in desperate need of our prayers as she continues her fight for her life. The prognosis so far is not good, but we must continue to pray for a miraculous recovery. The sons and their families are coping as well as can be expected, and the boys especially are also a testament to the loving way they were raised by their parents. Mom and Dad would be proud…And so are we. With Love, Uncle Bob, Auntie Helen, Ryan and Kristina Greynolds

A True measure of a person is found in the lives of those they have touched. Without them, those lives would’ve been less. Know that the lives of the Filipino community have been a richer one with Marvin in it. His strength of character, positive leadership, and genuine concern for the welfare of people around him are testament to who he was. We hope and pray for the very best for Grace, Edwin, Andrew, Jonathan and the rest of the Chaffin family.

I only recently met both Grace & Marvin through St. Paul church. Marvin was going through the RCIA process and I am one of the "team discussion leaders". I have no doubt he is now with God. Grace & I both joined the newly formed contemporary choir together. We bonded - as it turns out we both moved to Highland around the same time, only I came from Shiloh. She shared with me their reason for moving was to fulfill one of Marvin's desires to move back to the rural farming area. I am just heart-broken and am keeping everyone in my heart and prayers. With deepest sympathy,
My thoughts and prayers are with the Chaffin family. I was a co-worker of Marv's and he was a very nice, quiet person and will always be remembered at DISA CONUS.

Although Marvin and I worked at the same building, the only time I got to work with him was when I needed his help, and he was as helpful and friendly as you could wish in a coworker. I didn't know him very well, but I'll miss his friendly face, quiet dimeanor, and kind skillful help.
