It is hard to believe Jack Greene has been gone a year, now. As a young teen, I never knew I even liked country music as I listened to pop and rock stations mostly back then but his music, along with many other country singers were played on the stations I listened to. I never was blessed to have met Mr. Greene but, still, appreciate his great voice and music from the first song I ever heard him sing. He is one of the greatest. I thank God for sending him into our lives. God bless each of his family members.

It brings tears of joy to my eyes just reading all the kind words for my father. He was a great man and he loved his fans more than anything in this world. He is looking down on all if us and probably whistling a new tune. Thank you all very much

Jack Greene will always be remembered as one of the greatest singers, ever. May God Bless his family in the days of sadness.

My heart is absolutely broken. I loved Jack Greene so much. I did not realize he had become so ill. I saw the video of him singing at his 83rd birthday party in January and even though he got mixed up, the minute he began to sing, there that voice was, as pure as ever. It sent chills up my arms. I loved Jack so much. I can't imagine this world without him in it. Rest in peace beloved man, Jack Greene.

Tribute song for Jack Greene

Solid Gold Statue (Larry W. Jones - Kingwood Kowboy)

If ever there needs to be
An award for integrity
To a love that's as pure as gold
Then build a solid gold statue
Of the one who owns my love
Greatest love story ever told

Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

And on that golden face
A lovely smile should be placed
To show the world what pleasantness you bring
Never a single trace
Of a tear out of place
Of lasting happiness you make me sing

- instrumental -

And on that golden face
A lovely smile should be placed
To show the world what pleasantness you bring
Never a single trace
Of a tear out of place
Of lasting happiness you make me sing

Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew and loved Jack. It has been many years since I have had the pleasure of seeing him, but in the 1970's and and 80s, his voice was heard daily in my parent's household. And, until a few years ago, a large photograph of Jack & Jeannie hung on the wall in my mother's home. We looked forward to any time they were anywhere close to the Pittsburgh area so we could see them and the Jolly Giants. I will always be greatful for Jack's kindness to my parents as well as all the memories of fun times with he and the Jolly Giants. I remember the day my mother gave Jack a Living Bible with his name engraved on the front. I remember how happy she was when she knew he had given his live over to the Lord. I can imagine now he has joined Jimmy and Noel and they are once again harmonizing in heaven. Thank you, Mr. Greene for sharing your talent and giving so much to so many during your life.

We were privileged to spend time with Jack at various times, including backstage at the Opry, where he took time to introduce us to many performers, including Roy Acuff. We shared meals with Jack at our home and other places after his wonderful performances; and a highlight was to have Jack and his band the Jolly Green Giants give two evening performances at our local school, with our son and me opening the show with our own music. We treasure those memories and our fascinating conversations about the early days of country music. Most of all, we enjoyed Christian fellowship, as he was truly a follower of Christ. We look forward to meeting you again, Jack.
March 16, 2013

"Have you beheld a man skillful in his work? Before kings is where he will station himself; he will not station himself before commonplace men." (Proverbs 22:29) Jack was truly skilled at his craft and touched the lives of many. May we likewise work hard at whatever our trade may be, but may we especially work for the kind of treasure that can never be lost, not even in death. (Matthew 6:19-21,33)

God Bless you Jack. You have been one of my favorites since that night in Perryton,Tx. when Ernest Tubb announced this was the last week his drummer would be with him, because he had cut a record, and would be moving on to begin his solo career. Then you stepped up and sang "Statue of a Fool". Your vocals were smooth as my other favorite, Ray Price. May you rest in peace.

March 16, 2013
Mr. Greene was a true gentleman. I tried years ago to get a copy of his song "It's Time To Cross That Bridge." Justin Tubb gave me Mr. Greene's telephone number. He was very gracious about it, and gave me some names of record dealers, since he didn't have a copy himself. You don't find many entertainers that accessible. Lord bless you, Mr. Greene.
March 16, 2013
Lord have mercy, that man could sing!!!! We'll miss you greatly jack.
March 16, 2013
I love you Jack Green and will miss you so much. My husband and I met you backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in 1979 , it was my birthday and when you went out on stage to sing ,you dedicated a song to me, I will never forget that and you also invited us to go to the get-together after the show. Our hearts are broken, but our memories are blessed. God Bless you our beloved Jack Green.

March 16, 2013
He had one of the best voices in any genre of music. We used to go to see him every time he was in our area. My favorite memory of him was when he parked his motor home at Sunset Park, in West Grove, PA. Our friend, Rick, who was a prankster, knocked on the door while the rest of us stood FAR away from him! Jack opened the door and Rick said, "Can my friends and I look at the inside of your motor home?" I was so embarrassed, but to my surprise, Jack said, "Sure. Come on in!" There were about 7 of us and he invited us in and gave us a tour of the motor home. He invited us to sit down. We only stayed a short time, but that goes to prove what a kindhearted person he was. We were really strangers to him, but he treated us like friends. We will never forget him!

March 15, 2013
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

When I was 15 yrs old I met Jack Greene. I was a singer at Frontier Ranch in Cols, Ohio and Ernest Tubb came there to play. I saw Jack Greene and heard him sing and thought he should be a star too! Well soon he was and I got to go on tour with ET and all the gang in the mid 60's. I have followed Jacks career and was so happy to see how well he did. God bless you Jack Greene for being a super friend and giving us all such wonderful music. Prayers for the family and all his friends.
March 15, 2013

March 15, 2013
I send sympathy to the family of Jack Greene. I spent many Sat. nights at the GOO when I first came to Nashville. Loved country Music Always. My dad and his sister & her children & my brothers all played instruments and we had many 'Hoot-Nannies' at our home, so when I came to Nashville to go to School & work; I dated a few musicians and my sister married a guy who was in ET's band for several years. 'Kemo' has gone on now and I am sure that he will be happy to see Jack Greene. I never knew back then that he played in ET's group. I loved his music; especially; 'you are my everything' but never got to see him in person; that I can remember. I watched many TV shows with him as the main performer though. I have recently lost a brother, who was a musician and who had dementia; I hope the two of them and Claude King meet up and play Country and Gospel for others who have gone on before me.
Rest in Peace Jack and may God Bless your family.

Sympathy and prayers are extended to Jack Greene's family and fans at this sad time. It is tragic that another great Country Music Star has left us. So many of the truly outstanding and irreplaceable Country Music legends are no longer with us, but we can continue to enjoy and love their special music (Hank Snow, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and Ernest Tubb, just to name a few).
They will never be forgotten.
