Ellen was much more than an English teacher. Her classes challenged us to think, reason, and communicate. I remember how we studied English literature by learning about the succession of the English royal dynasties, and the importance and influence of history on literature and the arts. I read in her obit how much she enjoyed music (among so many other things), and would have so enjoyed attending a concert with her. She was such a great influence on so many of us, and I humbly say "thank you, Ellen" for what you gave us.

She was one of my favorite teachers. I had her for 10th grade English. Just loved her teaching method.

What a wonderful teacher and human being we have lost. I was so lucky to have been one of her students. She taught me to love literature and the English language. Ellen's respect for her students and her ability to make every student feel valued were unparalleled . She was a treasure.

Ellen was one of the champions that have come out of Waukegan. She was always with us when we won many state wrestling championships.A great supporter with words of encouragement.
She will be missed. Arnie Cohn, ex wrestling coach
