So sorry to hear of the loss of The Great Eddie Richter and sorry we couldn't attend the Memorial--in Arizona. Handball, of course, is where I first became involved with the RIchter tribe, and all of them were extraordinary--a part of my life I can always "look backward to with pride." Please accept my sincere condolences.

As a youth growing up at First Christian Church Mr. and Mrs. Richter were always a positive influence, in my life, as they were in so many others. My love to his family.
Doris-- Our prayers are with you and the family-- He was our insurance man from Get Go! He was my handball buddy-- a great competitor and good sport. Our final game went like this- You needed to win the best out of 3 games= for the championship at the "Y"-- Ed won the first game, Arnie won the second game and Arnie had Ed 20 to 18 and serving= Ed hurt his back- I said "I think this game should be a tie= We were co champions that year. He is missed, but surely respected and loved. Arnie Cohn, & Ellie Cohn

The loss to his family cannot be measured but the value of a smile, friendly greeting and a shared story will always be a treasure to those who knew Eddie.
I knew Eddie as a Rotarian and as my Insurance Agent. He was a good man and a great story teller. May his soul rest in peace.
Eddie was a wonderful friend of my father's since childhood. I'd like to think they are now together playing 18 holes of golf.

I didn't really know him, except from working down the street from his office. I will add his name to our Book of Prayers at my church tomorrow. To Jeff and the Richter family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Eddie. Between you and your father you always took care of me and my family when we needed you. It was always nice to come into that big office and hear Eddie ask "What did you do now!?!" He was a true pillar of community and of our old neighborhood. Gone are the days of the personable insurance men like Eddie as he was the commensurate insurance man.
Eddie, rest in peace sir and thank you for those times that you helped me out and didn't tell my father.
I had the pleasure of knowing Eddie through the Waukegan Rotary Club. He was one of the kindest people I've ever known. Always a smile and something nice to say. My sincere prayers and best wishes to Doris and his children. You were blessed having Eddie in your lives.
Eddie was the real deal. A genuine and true gentleman. He was one that we should all aspire to be like. A great story teller, an honest insurance man, and a great Rotarian. Two thumbs up for Eddie Richter. So long Ed.
The times were rare when I would see Eddie but when I did it was always a feel good experience. I remember in Italy Eddie giving Judy and I on our gold purchases. Dick Witt

To the Richter Family, Jeff…. Sorry for your loss, I met Eddie, in 1970, I was driving a 1961 Rambler, I bought it in California, for $250.00, I was shopping for insurance, Mr. Richter quote my 6 months premium for $600.00, been young and single, I ask Eddie, how can I pay $600.00 when the value of this car is $250.00?? he always had a great smile, and said to me….well, get married..and my answer to him was, and who is going to support the Wife? I spend the next 25 yrs. as Mr Richter, friend and client, till his retirement, another thing I remember about his office, the "Clown" pictures.
R.I.P. Mr. Eddie Richter.
Scott, Katy and family~ My deepest sympathies on the passing of your Dad. I don't remember seeing him without a smile on his face and a phone up to his ear. He took time with everyone to share story and his positive attitude. May happy memories help ease your loss.

Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. Eddie was one of those individuals. He always had a story to share, and a most profound way of letting us imagine what it was like to be there in that story. His gentle words, kind looks, and good-natured smiles always worked wonders with whomever he encountered. Eddie was a dedicated and beloved Rotarian. Doris, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Our loss is heaven's gain, for sure! Peace and everything good...
Dear Doris, Randy, Susan, and Rhonda,
Words fail as a form of comfort. They are a poor substitute for hugs, the exchange of loving memories, and the swapping of comical adventures with Eddie. May your faith, family, and friends shepherd you through this and upcoming trials.
