Parks, Jr, Wilfred A. "Sparky" Age 87, of Park City, IL passed away at the home of his son in Winthrop Harbor early on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014. Sparky was born August 30, 1926 in Scranton, PA and married Jua-Nita Robinson on September 27, 1952 in Johnson City, New York. He retired from the United States Navy on December 7, 1970 as a senior sonar technician after 23 years of service and had served his country during World War II, the Korean War, and the Viet Nam War. Then in 1973, he went to work at General Motors and retired in 1989. Sparky belonged to St. Dismas Church in Waukegan, was a life member of the VFW in Carollton, Michigan, and was a member of the American Legion Post#22 in Jamestown, Rhode Island. Survivors include his wife, Jua-Nita O. Parks; one son, Howard (Tierene Mae) Parks of Winthrop Harbor, IL; one grandson, Todd Michael; one brother, Jim (Margaret) Parks of Bay City, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, as well as his parents. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 10:00-11:00am at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Funeral services will be at 11:00am at the funeral home with Fr. James E. Merold officiating. Private interment will follow at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee.
