Karen Rose Martin entered the world April 9, 1961, the fifth of 13 children born to Kenneth and Kathleen Martin. Karen saw the Lord face to face when she was called home May 3, 2013, and she enjoyed a beautiful reunion with her adoring daddy whom we lost last year. She was a loving, compassionate, protective and devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and companion.
Karen was a "Jack of all Trades" and never afraid of manual labor. She was a carpenter, builder, mechanic, seamstress, gourmet cook, she roofed and renovated houses, gardened, and crocheted. She was bursting with skills and unlimited talent and was always ready to lend a hand.
Sept. 7, 2012, when her father was diagnosed with cancer, Karen joined her family helping with his care until he passed on Sept 24, 2012. Two months later, still reeling from her father's death, Karen returned to Alabama. Feeling ill, she visited her doctor and was diagnosed with stage four cancer. This tragic news didn't hinder Karen's outlook on life. Though her time was short, with support from her family, she continued to live life to its fullest.
Karen is survived by her mother, Kathleen Martin of Bushnell; her daughters, Christina and Theresa; son, Michael; grandchildren, Summer, Anthony, Edward, Zoey, Hunter, Michael, Justine and Kameron; sisters, Shirlee, Nancy, Mary, Antoinette, Kathleen and Colleen; brothers, Frank, Fred, Ronald, Robert, Christopher and Kenny; her longtime companion, George; stepsons, Jake and David; 12 nieces; 11 nephews; five great-nieces; 11 great-nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Martin.
Plucked from our garden, this bloom no longer grows,
God has called home, our Beautiful Rose
A memorial service will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Bushnell, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 9 a.m.

We lost a piece of our hearts when you left us, but you are with our Father and in God we trust! We know that you are now at peace and free of pain, this helps to heal our aching hearts as our loss is His gain.

Karen,
I was always envious of all you were able to do...there was nothing you couldn't do if you set your mind to it! You were so incredibly talented, loving, giving, caring, a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother. My heart aches at your loss! I know you are no longer suffering in anyway, from anything...that helps to ease the pain, but it doesn't stop it! Rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus and Dad and enjoy all the beauty that Heaven has to offer. You are so deeply loved and very much missed. Go Rest High on That Mountain my sister, and I'll see you when I see you!!! I love you, Annie
