Mr. Cooley seemed like a person who has lived his life to the fullest. Now he's asleep hoping to hear the words Lazarus heard when Jesus resurrected him saying "Lazarus come out" meaning from the grave. So for now rest in peace.
May the God of all comfort be a healing and soothing spot in your hearts.

The State of Iowa is a better place because of E. Wayne Cooley. His accomplishments are legendary, of course. What I admired was his enthusiasm about his home town of Coon Rapids, even though he hadn't lived here in more than 50 years. I lost a notable long time subscriber. Charlie Nixon, Coon Rapids Enterprise

So very sorry to hear about your father's passing. My deepest sympathy to you both at this most dificult time.
Wayne will always hold a special place in the heart of every Iowa girl. He made it possible for young girls to not only dream of being an athlete, but made it possible "to be" an athlete!
