Dear Mr Cooperstein,
Thank you for the tribute to Rob. You would have enjoyed him as a man, as well.
My daughters and I are grateful for your comments.
I hadn't been in touch with Robby since our Camp Samoset days. Robby was part of a core group of bunkmates who spent quite a few summers together. Clearly a brilliant boy, it sounds as if became the kind of man, and doctor, that we badly need. I am saddened to belatedly hear of his passing, especially in such a tragic manner. My sincere condolences to his family.
Foster "Foop" Cooperstein
Always in my heart DR G.Thinking of your family at this time of year. May Peace be with you all. Office isn't the same without you but I feel your presence there always! RIP! Pauline Hartwell

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. g about 8 years ago as his assistant. i was deeply saddened by his passing. His senseless passing.. may he forever rest in peace.
Dr. Geronemus was my doctor for twenty years. I will always remember him as an outstanding doctor and friend. My thoughts are with his family.
January 24, 2010
God Bless all who have stood by our sides during this painful year of loss.
you have raised us up and, in doing so, have faithfully honored the memory of our beloved Rob.
Laurie, Christina, Rachel, and Mia Geronemus
Dr. Geronemus was my doctor for several years. My visits were usually filled with politcal conversations and it was actually fun to go to the doctor. He is greatly missed. Barbara Copans
To Laurie and the girls,
Please accept my deepest condolences.
I have bean trying to find you for years, and now i do..
it´s very hard for me to find the right words, but i will try.
I remeber Robert as a very kind and fine person,he was always happy and had a big smile on his face.. I have sean him as a god and caring father and a wonderful man.
You all are in my thoughts..
the "old" aupair from denmark
Roberta and I worked with Dr. Geronemus at Mt. Sinai in NYC, when we were green nurses. He was one of the finest doctors we ever worked with, and his dry wit only enriched every encounter. I remember his excitement and pride when I was in Miami and he gave me the "grand tour" of his practice, and we played with his then 1 year old daughter. I will never forget what a great man he was, on every level. My heart goes out to his whole family. He will never be forgotten.
I was a kidney transplant patient of Dr Geronemus. I saw him in the hospital when I was very ill in January. I was shocked and saddened when I heard of his tragic and senseless death. I have been a patient of his clinic for 31 years. I will miss him, my best to his family.
I was a patient of Dr. Geronemus for over twenty years and was deeply saddened to hear of his passing away. He was an humble and compassionate man who truly will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
Dear Laurie and family,
I did not know about this site until today.
I have been praying for you and your family and thinking about you every day.
Steve and I loved your husband dearly. We admired him for his expertise, his compassion, and his honesty. There will never another like him,and my family and I will be forever grateful for his dedication to Steve and for his love.
Thank you Dr. G for everything.
I want to express my sincere and deep to the Geronemus family on the untimely passing of Dr Geronemus or Robbie as I always knew him. Our Fathers were friends from childhood. For a good part of my life our families were close and interacted routinely. In fact I still remember attending Robbie’s Bar Mitzvah as well as other events we spent together.
I am sure that Dr. Geronemus will be missed.
Thank you for your support, comfort and love during this time of inexplicable tragedy. Rob was a gentle soul and a treasure to all who knew him. He was dedicated to his patients, cared deeply for his colleagues and friends and loved his family passionately and unconditionally. He will remain our beacon as we struggle to heal.
I would like to thank each & every one of you who posted comments on this web site in memory & honor of my son Rob who was taken from us so tragically & much too soon.
I am sorry I could not personally meet those of you who attended the funeral service. It would have been a comfort to me & respectful to you.
Dear Lori & Family,
My deeepest sympathy to all of you.
Dr.G was one of a kind and a very special person.
The past 10yrs that I have beeen his N.P. have been a privilege and honor to me. I realize now how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to work so closely with him. Dr.G was a leader in the renal community, a giant indeed (just as his brother described him )yet he was kind, unassuming, willing to listen and to help. He led firmly yet with unmatched tolerance, patience and understanding.
I will miss him. He was my boss, my mentor, my teacher and my friend.
Thank you Dr.G, thanks for everything.
Praying for God's comfort and blessings on his family.
Cardia Sinclair, Plantation, Fl
I knew Bob when he was at Mt Sinai in New York. The renal community has lost a good and dedicated physician.
Dear Laurie, I just heard about Rob tonight and am deeply saddened by the news for you and the girls. I did not know him as a great physician, but as a supportive dad who patiently waited to pick up Rachel and Mia from dance class. I am deeply sorry for your loss and will pray for your strength, courage, and faith during this difficult time.
To the family of Dr. Geronemus,
Please accept my deepest condolences. I was a patient of Dr. Geronemus for three years. He was a caring and talented physician as well as a wonderful person. He kept me healthy as I was dealing with ESRD. Because of his care I recieved a kidney transplant. I am deeply sadened that I was not able to thank him in person. His untimely passing is a tragic loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
I remember working with Rob many years ago at Mt. Sinai and what a pleasure it was.
A great loss.
My deepest condolences to your family. I knew Dr. Geronemus as an RN for many years at Coral Springs Medical Center. He was always so professional and intelligent. His death is such a terrible loss to his family, his community, and his patients.
Linda Scherruble, RN
My deepest sympathies. I had just met Dr. Geronemus on Saturday at the conference. I say his name tag and said to him "I am so excited to meet you. I have heard so much about you." He smiled and started talking about science and improving patient care. He embodied what a doc should be.
Laurie and girls: I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's tragic accident; he and I worked closely together years ago on RPA business, and more recently he was a great help to me in arranging a nephrologist appt for one of my patients who was moving to FL. We alll miss him deeply, but no where close to what you feel. Please know that we all felt that Bob was "one of the good guys!"
My condolences to His Wife and Family. I never knew Dr. Geronemus; but as a Florida Nephrologist I knew of him. He was well respected and known to be a dedicated Physician. To the renal community, nurses and physicians,he was a voice for patient and physician rights. A dedicated patient advocate. I many times refered patients to him when they were moving across the State. Based on his reputation I felt and had full confidence they would be well cared for. I'm sorry I never had the opportunity to meet him. My Deepest Sympathy to his family.
I was so sorry to hear of this terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you gather together to help and support each other.
My Deepest Sympathy,
I am, like all who knew him, hurt and saddened by the death of our awesome "Dr. G". I learned so much this "born teacher"....He LOVED to teach and did it in such a great way, never making anyone feel stupid. My heart goes out to his family and all who worked with him over the years! He was well loved and will be horribly missed.
I was so deeply saddened when I learned of Rob's untimely death that I could not contribute to these pages until now.
I first met Rob in December 1990 when I interviewed to join his practice. I saw a man of calm demeanor, great affability and most importantly, superior intellect. Having also earned a degree in physics, he was the first nephrologist who used the technique of continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration and dialysis (CAVHD). He proudly showed me his paper which, although not well received when it was initially presented, was adopted by many, including some who claimed to have invented the new procedure. It was not until many years later in a review article in the New England Journal of Medicine that Rob's seminal paper was given proper credit.
Having left academia, I found a mentor in the new world of private practice. He taught me all about the business of nephrology. When we became partners, decisions were always made after discussion and through consensus. He always believed in fairness and he once told me that it was better to work together than alone. Nevertheless, it was he who initiated some key management decisions that contributed to the success of our practice.
His leadership qualities were also evident outside of our practice. For many years, he was president of the Florida Society of Nephrology and president of the End Stage Renal Disease Network 7. He helped design a Medicare Demonstration Project that we did with Blue Cross Blue Shield many years ago. He was on a national advisory committee with Fresenius Medical Care and he was well known among the leaders of the Renal Physician Association and the American Society of Nephrology.
Most importantly, he was well loved by his patients, his colleagues, our office staff and all of the nurses in the dialysis units and the hospitals.
Through the years, we had become good friends who chatted not only about science and medicine but also about family and politics. I will dearly miss our conversations.
Sailing may have been one of his passions, but it was too soon for him to sail into the sunset.
There are some people who influence a whole group of people with hope and creativity and kindness. I feel that Doctor Geronemus developed a team of medical caregivers which bridges compassion with technology for the renal family. My deepest sympathy to his family. Deborah Culp
To the family of Dr Geronemus I send my condolences. He was such a wonderful Doctor and a pleasure to work with when I worked as a Staff Nurse at Florida Medical Center on 2 South.. A great loss to the community and I will miss his sense of humour and compassion for all of his patients.
There are no words that can express how deeply sorry we are for the loss of Rob. We were happy to have had the opportunity to know Rob and share some special moments especially in Eleuthera. Our prayers go out to his family, to you Laurie and all the girls.
Love, Chris. and George
I know there are no words that will comfort you; but please know that "Dr. G" is in heaven. He was greatly loved and respected. I am so sorry for this great loss and I will pray for your family daily. January 30, 2009
On behalf of myself, and my Father, Dr. Russell S. Jones, we send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Geronemus.
Susan Jones Kirkpatrick
Dr. Russell S. Jones, Retired Pathologist, Imperial Point and Northridge
I am profoundly saddened by this tragedy. Dr. Geronemus was a wonderful nephrologist, teacher, role model and friend to the whole nephrology community. His leadership and his humanity will be sorely missed. We express our deepest sympathy to his family.

My condolences to the Geronemus family. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Geronemus at Northwest Medical Center. He will be missed by all.
To the Geronemus family, may God bless and keep you. May he guide you through your sorrow. My deepest sympathy to you all. He will truly be missed, such a wonderful person. We were fortunate to have him with us until God was ready for him. I knew him from working at UHMC. Always pleasant to talk to him, he was never too busy.
First of all I am absolutely overwhelmed by the beautiful posts on this site, facebook, newspapers, emails, calls, etc that I have received. Your support is invaluable to me and my family. Also, I would like to share with you my tribute to my father from his funeral for those that could not hear it there or were unable to attend:
There’s a lot to be said about being the oldest child in a family, but the best part for me was for a while I had my dad all to myself, I have many fond memories from that time but what I remember the most is going on rounds with my dad. At the time he had only just arrived in the Broward medical community but even at that young age I could see the respect everyone had for him, the pride he took in his work and his dedication and determination for saving the lives of his patients. It’s impossible to simplify a lifetime of achievements into a simple speech although I am sure my father would have done it better as he was an amazing speaker but I can say simply that he was a seeker of knowledge, a healer and one of the two most brilliant people I know. Although he was not always good at expressing it he loved his family more than anything, even the New York Times. Although it may impossible for us not to be sad and angry at his passing I will share with you something my father always told me that really pissed me off then but may help me and all of you now…. He always said “you can’t dwell on the past” I am sure he would want us to carry on his legacy but not dwell in his passing.
I've been a patient of Dr. Geronemus for about 18 years now, I always enjoyed going in for my appointment I felt he was more a friend then my doctor, it will be hard to replace him. I wish his family all the best my prayers go out to all of you.
Condolences to the family of Dr Gernonemus
I had the opportunity of working with Dr G at University Hospital and Westside Medical Center may he rest in peace.

A poem dedication: for Dr. Geronemus' family
If tears can build a stairway and memories a lane
We would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again.
No farewell words spoken. No time to say "Goodbye".
You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why.
Our hearts ache with sadness and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to have you -No one can ever know.
But now I know you want us to mourn for you no more:
To remember all the happy times, life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten.
We pledge to you today -
A hollowed place within our hearts is where you will always stay.
May peace be in your lives in this time of sadness
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It has been decades since I knew Robert and his entire extended family. I was a counselor and later director of Camp Samoset in Gilford, NH. I am deeply saddened by this
tragic accident and wish the entire
Geronemus family my very best
I had the pleasure of working for/with this wonderful man for 2 1/2 years. I have never been given so much opportunity, that I could never be more thankful for. May god give the family strength to wake up everyday with this loss. We all loose and we all miss, but we all must be strong and go on with each day. Dr. G was a wonderful person, a GREAT doctor, and most an excellent family man. You will be missed. R.I.P! Always in my thoughts.
Voted "Most Intellectual" and earning Valedictorian honors, it was clear Robby was poised for great accomplishments. Three decades after graduation, we met again while he cared for my mother. He treated her with dignity and compassion; with me, he was honest and kind explaining phases of her illness. So very much more than intellectual, Rob was a gentle soul and a humanitarian. Our family extends our deepest sympathies to the Geronemus family and friends. G-d rest his soul.
I was so sorry to hear about your loss. My father was Clem's best friend from the time they were eight. My memories of Robbie are from my earliest childhood. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
I worked with Dr. Geronemus for the last 14 years at University Hospital. He was always very nice, friendly and helpful to me. I will miss his friendly face around work. My heartful wishes go out to his friends and family.
As a colleague, I am saddened at the untimely loss of a man who had such a positive impact on so many lives. My sincere condolences to his family as well as to Drs. Ed Martin, Diego Echeverri, and Ken Tourgeman and the rest of the staff at South Florida Nephrology Associates.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
I knew Dr Geronemus for a short time here at his office, but that time was enough to know how incredible he was, I was very sadden by the news and my thoughts went straight to his wonderfull family whom he talked about constantly and i had the priviledge to know and spend time with them.
Dr Geronemus you will be missed incredibly, our workplace will not be the same without you we will miss your smile and your very easy and friendly attitude.
Thank you Dr Geronemus for everything you did for me I will never forget you.
Dr Geronemus took care of me for 10 years.
When the days got dim and I headed for dialysis he sent me to F M C to have a port put in.He came to Boca to the dialysis unit to see me. After surgery to remove both failed kidneys he came to Coral Spring medical to tell me I will be ok as I lay there 98 pounds. In 2004 I had a kidney transplant and he was there to tell me I looked great and was doing well. There will never be another DR.Geronemus, but I was lucky to have him the 10 years that I did.
God Bless Laurie, and the children and may you remember the great times you had together. He loved you all so much.
A huge loss for your family and the nephrology community...very sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember my first visit almost a year ago, the profound impact he made on my life. It is an honor to have known him and I thank God for my health and wellness due to his compassion, understanding, and knowledge. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, staff and patients. His memory and legacy will remain forever in my heart. You all are in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Dr.Geronemus was my doctor, and a friend for 3 years now. He got me through a tough part of my life. I know I will have to find another doctor. But I know, I will never find another doctor, that will care about me. Like Dr. Geronemus. He was a very caring and compassionate man. One has to be very lucky to find such a wonderful person and Dr. In their life. My condolences goes out to his wonderful family.
I had the honor, pleasure and good fortune to work with Rob Geronemus many years ago at FMC in the RICU and FKC. He was a gentle, caring and compassionate man and a brilliant physician. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who loved him. He touched many hearts, including mine, and will be missed by all of us.
I was deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Dr. Geronemus. I was a Head Nurse at Florida Medical Center in the late 70's when Neil Schneider, MD brought him to my unit and asked me to show him around and take him under my wing. I knew Dr. Geronemus for the past 30 years and everytime I saw him it was like the first day I met him. He always had a smile on his face and always stopped to ask me how I was doing. My deepest sympathy to his loving family. His dedication and caring ways will always be remembered and cherished.
My heartfelt prayers go out to all of his family, co-workers, patients and friends. Many of us grew up with him here in Hollywood and knew him as "Robbie". He was voted the "Most Likely to Succeed" in our senior year at South Broward High, and that he did. What a beautiful legacy he has left us all.
Peace to you, Robbie
Hi girls: I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was amazing when I had my kidney troubles in Israel, and my family has been privileged to be so close to yours. I'm glad my mom can be there to help. My prayers are with you. Love, Jen
I am so sorry for your loss. Rob was a good man and always there when you needed a hand. He will be missed. I am sorry I was unable to attend his funeral. Your family is in my thoughts.
I met Dr. Geronemus in the spring of 2006 when I began my tenure with Genzyme. I quickly came to enjoy his wit, personality and knowledge. I enjoyed my visits both from a professional and personal level. I miss him already. John Nellis
My heart is incredibly saddened with this news. He was one of my most favorite doctors to call on when I was a rep. He truly cared for his patients and loved what he did. This loss is imense but people that live with this much heart leave an even larger legacy. We will miss you Dr.G.
As the one of new additions of the staff of South Florida Nephrology I did not had the pleasure to collect many memories about Dr. Geronemus. But, I had the honor to work for a great professional, mentor, educator but mostly a person that always gave us the best example with his actions and decisions. My sympathy and prayers to his family.
It was a true pleasure knowing you. This world has lost a truly good soul. You were one of a kind.
My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
Rob Geronemus was my friend, colleague and partner. He was the leader of our group and the source of my inspiration to grow as physician and as a person. I enjoyed the very many conversations we had over the years. We would discuss subjects related to music, philosophy, politics, literature, and of course medicine as well. He always had an insightful opinion and a clear view of the issues. He loved his family and was always proud to talk about his daughters. He embraced my children who admired him and are forever grateful for his wise advice. We all will miss him immensely. He left us prematurely but we will continue to grow thanks to his example. He set the bar high and his vision will give us the courage to achieve the goals that he pointed for all of us. Thank you Rob. Farewell.
It was an honor to be at the service today. It was touching, inspiring, and loving.
It's apparent the difference Dr. Geronemus has made for many, many people.
My best to the Geronemus family.
With love and kindness, Catherine MacAskill
My wife was dr.Gs patient for 10 years, and she looked foward to every visit, because he treated her as not only a patient, but as a friend. I saw him only once as a patient, and was quite impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. We have all lost a fine human being.
Richard Copans, Coconut Creek
I am deepened saddened to hear of the loss of a dear colleague.
Laurie, Heather, Mia and Family- I am so sorry to hear of Rob's passing. I will always remember him affectionately as "Uncle Rob". May your memories bring you comfort and peace.
I have been a patient of Dr. G's since 1991 and cannot imagine life without him. Always caring and concerned, he's been there for me through some very rough times. He never gave up and refused to let me. I cared deeply for him and I feel such sorrow at this senseless tradgedy. My thoughts and sympathy are with his family who he loved so dearly.
The world has lost a great man. How will we go on without him?
Just want Dr.Geronemus family to know that he had been my doctor for the past 3 years. He was a very caring, kind and thorough doctor.May God give you peace in this time of sorrow.
I have worked with Dr Geronemus for many years at University Hospital and I am very saddened by this tragic event. He will be missed. My sympathies to the family.
The healthcare profession and family of Dr Geronemus has lost a caring man. It is hard to beleive that someone so humble has been taken away from us. I worked with Dr Geronemus at several local hospitals, his memory will live on.
My husband, Ted, was a disabled veteran and when his kidneys began to fail, God sent us Dr. Geronemus, and we are grateful for his genius and caring ways. Rest in peace and condolences to his family.
Berle and Family,
We were shocked and saddened to learn of Roberts tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We wish you strength to get through this terrible time.
I had the priviledge of knowing Dr. G. for many years at FMC. He was the smartest, kindest, funniest man and the "go-to" doctor regardless of how many other docs were on a patient's case. The world has one less angel walking on earth.
Dear Laurie, Rachel and Mia,
Though I haven't seen your dad since you girls were in my class, his big smile, kind heart, and love of his girls will never be forgotten. He was so proud of his family! May your memories of the good times together carry you through this very difficult time. Your dad and husband touched so many lives in so many wonderful ways including mine. With great fondness, Penny Farrel
My husband is a patient of South Florida Nephrology Associates and I have met Dr. Geronemus several times while my husband was in the Hospital, - we are both shoked by Dr. Geronemus sudden death and present our heartfelt sympathy to his family as well to his Associates. May God give you strength,
Louis Daniel & Marianne Sendral
To: Laurie and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. Love Della,Maggie, Tami and Toby.
Our Deepest Sympathy
Your Family and Friends at Diet at Your Doorstep
The world has lost a great man. I have been consoled, given words of hope, issue "tough love" when needed, and most certainly great patient care from this amazing man. I have come to depend on his advice and care for the past 17 years as a patient, and I love him as a friend. My family and I send our greatest condolences to Robert's family and friends at this time. We pray for their comfort and send our love. Thank you, Dr. G....for everything. I will miss you.
We will miss Dr. Geronemus, who always had time for a light conversation, taking time off his busy schedule to pick up the needed Pointe shoes for his beautiful daughters. We always liked to see him walking through our door when sent on those errands; he was never too busy to be kind and considerate. A special person, gifted physician, who was also able to appreciate the art of dance. May God bless your family in this time of sorrow, may Him give you the comfort to celebrate a life well lived.
His most kind manner and compassion will be truly missed. Both my wife and Mother-in-Law had trusted in his skills and both of their lives would be not nearly as complete if not for Dr. G. Myself and my family's prayers are with him and his family at this time of grief...
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dr. Geronemus was a colleague, but more importantly a very dear friend. His dedication to the Nephrology community will never be forgotten.
Dr. Geronemus has been my husbands dr for the past nine years and we will be forever grateful to him for his medical expertese as well as his compassion. He was one of a kind for treating both the body and the soul of his patients and truly understanding the psychological effects dialysis has on a patient. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family to help them through this tragic time. He will truly be missed by all.
Dr. Geronemus was my mother's Nephrologist. I will always remember his kindness as I went through the testing to become a kidney donor for my mom. He truly cared for his patients, and made them feel welcomed, not rushed. May his family's memories of him halp them through the trying times ahead.
Dear Laurie and Rachel,
We are all so saddened and pained by the news of the tragic loss of your beloved husband and father. He was an amazing person who was loved by all who knew him.
May you and your family only know happiness in the future.

I've worked with Dr. G for many years....he would always tell me to go back to school and get a nursing license. I would joke with him and say "What will I be when I grow up". I'm in my 40's now!! but Dr. G. always had trust & faith in me ..... with or without a license. He was always sincere and true.
My thoughts go out to his family and may your happiest of memories help get you through the days to come!!
You will be missed in the medical community as a colleague and a friend.
You touched and healed many peoples lives.
My sympathy and prayers to the Geronemus family. May God bring you peace and understanding in this time of sorrow.
I am sitting here in the office today knowing South Florida Nephrology Associates will never be the same. You were the shining light at the end of every tunnel, when I encountered a problem in the office. You were a mentor, father figure, friend, educator and a driving force.
I thank God for allowing me the honor to know you and work side by side with you daily. My heart is filled with sorrow and your footprints will forever remain.
Dr. Geronemus and his wife Laurie changed my life. He was a mentor to me and I respected him and his family tremendously. I am at a loss for words to describe the wonderful man society has lossed. GOD has a true angel with him now and may the entire Geronemus family find the strength to face each day. GOD BLESS YOU DR G!
My prayers are with his family and close friends. I was one of Dr.Geronemus Medical Assistants I enjoyed working with him. He was always so helpful, funny and pleasant to be around from the time I started here. I am very sad to not see him here with us. I know all is well with his sole. May God's Angels stay even closer to his Wife and family at this time.
Words seem to fall so short...I barely knew Dr. Geronemus, but his kind heart and wise soul would, in every gathering at which I saw him, greet me and extend to me a warmth of acceptance that touched my own soul. I will miss his simple kindness.
We are praying for you, dear family, that the Lord will surround and comfort you in your grief, that you will find strength in knowing that He is near; that you are not alone, not now, not ever. Our hearts break with you.
Someone so loved
will always be remembered.
My deepest sympathies to Berle....and the rest of Robert's family
Our sympathies to Dr. G's family. What a wonderful, compassionate physician.
Our family was very saddened by this devastating loss. May God bring you peace in this trying time.
My prayers and thoughts go out to all his family and friends. I worked with Dr. Geronemus years ago and he was funny, kind, and a joy to work with him.
I worked with Rob Geronemus in the 1990's on many kidney programs in Florida and knew him to be a very kind, caring, and capable person. I last had him over to Naples to speak on a nephrology topic to our nephrology community several years ago. We would always exchange family stories. He was so proud of his family. We would speak of his daughter at Yale with plans for medical school. I told him that we thought dental school might be a more "sane" life for a developing youngster and he laughed. He came from a family of dentists he told me.
I will miss him and hope to see him when my time comes. I had a heart attack some years back and Rob would always ask how I was feeling and doing.
My deepest condolances to the Geronemus family at this most difficult time.
Steven Preston, MD
I had the very great honor of knowing Dr Geronemus since 2001. He always treated everyone with such respect, no matter what their social status or title. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I enjoyed all his lectures and always learned something new every time he spoke. He was amazingly brilliant. I will miss working with him. The Heavens have taken back a gift that was shared for too short a time.
Dr. Geronemus was my rock when my husband was having his (last) treatments in Fla. Medical Center, a kinder and more understanding Dr. I have yet to meet. He will be sorely missed by his patients and family.
We are heartbroken, for the lost of Mr. Geronemus, and the negative effect on the entire family, including Diana and Heather Geronemus. May God bless and guide you. Bryan & Michele
I had the privilege of working and knowing Dr. Geronemus for 12 years. He was a brilliant, witty, kind, caring, and compassionate person. Whenever he would arrive at the Hospital to do rounds, be it late in the day, he would always have a smile on his face and brought a sense of calmness to the most stressful situation. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. His was a wonderful man that will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

Dr. Geronemus was my nephrologist for six years and is largely responsible for keeping me alive and as healthy as possible. He was a respected and loved doctor and human being. He will be missed by hundreds of patients and caregivers.

This is such a tragic loss of a dear and quiet man. The family of Dr Geronemus will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Dr. Geronemus treated me very, very well and I will always be grateful for his services. He was gentle, kind and sincerely interested in my health; I am 91 1/2 years old. I will certainly miss him. May he rest in peace!
Dr. Geronemus was not just my beloved father's physician, he was a son to my parents throughout my father's dialysis and treatment. He was kind and loving; when my father passed, Dr. Geronemus and his staff attended Dad's funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
Although I only knew him as my father and mothers doctor (Leonard & Isabelle Shetsky), I considered him one of the most professional and dedicated doctors I have met. The care and understanding he showed not only my father while he was sick, but the kindness he showed us as the concerned family. He always had time to talk to us and answer questions. Not too many doctors were like Dr. Geronemus. May he rest in peace.
Both being patients of Dr. Geronemus, we feel he was a gifted man as well as a wonderful doctor. We owe him the life of Leonard, as he was instrumental in treating him two years ago. The circumstances we met were not good, but knowing the man was a true joy. He will be missed by many!
As a colleague of Dr. Geronemus for 18 years at FMC and Univ Hosp I am saddened and shocked at the sudden and senseless loss of truly wonderful man. He was one of the brightest and most respected physicians I have ever known. For the past few years I have sought his medical care and counsel as a patient as well.
His caring, attentive, and compassionate
dedication for his patients is becoming rarer and less common in this age.
He spoke often of his wonderful family and I cannot begin to imagine the depth of their pain and sorrow at this time.
May G-d grant you the peace and comfort for your loss. Dr. Geronemus , I was humbled by your spirit and blessed with your friendship.
I worked with Dr. Geronemus at FMC, when he came in to the ER, it always brightened my day. He was kind, considerate, and very patient. My condolences to his family, my thoughts are with you. May your memories bring you comfort.
I am sending my deepest condolenses to you and your family.
My image of Dr. Geronemus was seeing him routinely at school. He seemed so involved with his family. I am saddened by this news.
Amos and Michele Stoll and family
I am so sincerely sorry for your loss. I was a patient that was helped tremendously by this good man. He never failed to discuss anything I quizzed him on even if it had nothing to do with my condition. It is selfish of me to only think of my plight now and I apologize for that but I am now at a loss. Dear God receive this man and have him watch over his beloved family.
Micheal J. Brown 3 years patient that he kept pretty stable.
I have been a patient of Dr. Geronemus for 20 years. I feel he saved my life. He supported me through dialyis and transplant. More than my doctor, he was my friend. Words cannot express the loss I feel. My sincere condolences and sympathy to his family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
I feel privledged and blessed to have known and to have had Dr.Geronemus as my doctor. He was a wonderful, kind, caring and brillant man!! I still can not believe that this devastating tragedy has happened! May his family find peace in all the wonderful memories that were shared with this terrific man!!!!!

I have been a patient of Dr. G's for over 4 years and I will miss him so very much. I'm still processing this information and I want to just say to his family he will always be with us in one way or another. He was one of the Great ones! Vicki Baierlein (Tamarac, FL)
My father was a sales rep and he called on Dr. Geronemus for many years. My father was visabily upset when he told me what happened. He told me that he was a great doctor and even better person.
Dr. Geronemus is one of the most caring people I have ever met. It was a pleasure to work for him and I will always hold him and his family dear to my heart. With my deepest sympathy.
Dr Geronemus has been my doctor since 1980. He was not only brilliant but caring and always kind. There aren't many doctors like him. My thoughts are with his family. I will miss him always.
I have known Dr. G (as he was lovingly addressed by me) for over two years now. I have been his patient and he has treated me very well. He was a good listener and worked with me into treating my kidney failure. He had a great personality and explained to me everything about my medical problem with excellent easy to understand analogies and in-depth medical explanations of my condition. He trusted me to be compliant with my treatment and prevented me into going on dialysis by effectively treating me for my hypertension. HE WAS PLAIN AND SIMPLE, A HIGHLY SKILLED NEPHROLOGIST WITH A FLAIR FOR HIS PROFESSION AND EXPERIENCE UNLIKE ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL.
I will dearly miss Dr. G. My heart goes out to his family who knew little about the impending mishap and an untimely death that would shock them for a long time. I pray that Dr. G rests in peace and may God show pity and forgiveness on his soul.
I express my heartfelt condolences to his family and to all his patients who would terribly miss him like I do.
This is truly a senseless loss. May you rest in peace.
I've known Dr Geronemus for 20 yrs as a caring physician. He always put his patients first and always had time to talk. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I've known Dr. Geronemus for 25-years. He was kind, caring and adored by the nursing staffs of several hospitals. I wish his family, his collegues and his patients more people like him in our lives.
I can't believe that the life of a nice, honest, hardworking doctor who saved lives is gone so tragically. I work upstairs in the building where he worked and it is hard to find words to express the sadness of his death. Peace to his family and deepest sympathy to all who knew him.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Dr. Geronemus's family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers during this very sad time. May God be near you all during this time of sorrow.
