Rest in peace my brother. A great journalist but an even better human being. Your wisdom will never be silenced. Steph we are here for you. Edwin and Michelle.
I will always love you... Thanks for being a great father to us...
It was always a pleasure to see Al in the hallways - so sad to hear the news. Much love to Stephanie and family.
I can't ever remember a moment when Al was angry, or unhappy or even in a bad mood. He always had a great big smile and a warm hello. It was an honor to have worked by his side and I will always cherish the memory of his friendship.
To the Warnell Family,
It was a gift to know Al during his graduate program at UM. He was such a kind soul... I remember him with great fondness.

Al and I met in 1976 at WINZ. Along with Mike McClellan we were the only blacks in the building. Al and I became fast friends. Al was the consummate professional. We would kid each other that based on Al's delivery no one knew he was black.
But don't let that fool you, Al covered riots, flotilla's and everything else happening in a growing Miami with a sense of professionalism that was unparalled.
Al was loyal. He hung there at WINZ/WIOD for his entire career.
My prayers are extended to Al's spirit and the family he leaves behind. May the God of our ancestors embrace your spirit and welcome you home into eternity.
You leave wonderful memories of a kind soul. Our years as colleagues were a pleasure. Rest well, old friend, and know that you are remembered fondly.
We remember Al with love and positive memories. Our thoughts and prayers are for him and his family.
