John -- we think of you so often, and especially at this time of year. We are so grateful for your service to our country, and for your friendship to our family. You live in our hearts and we miss you so much. To your Mother Josephine and your Father John, to your beloved wife Nicola, and your precious daughter Emma, we want you to know that John has left an indelible mark on all of us.

I have been out of the loop. I recently heard about John. We served together many years ago. He was a great guy and one you wanted to be around. He was also a true professional. RIP Brother.

To John, Josephine, Nicola and Emma,
Our Catholic Parish here in southern California honors America's fallen heroes each Memorial Day weekend by randomly selecting names. I've been honored to have selected Chief Warrant Officer John Pratt. John, we are approximately the same age and my daughter serves in the USMC. I pray for her safety each and every day as I know your mom, dad, wife and daughter did. I hope they realize you're in God's presence and safe from all the violence and threat here on Earth and it will only be a matter of time before they all join you. I hope they realize they are not alone in their grief as so many of our nation's grateful God loving people pray for you and them regularly, but especially this weekend when we are all reminded of the courage, honor and strength you and your colleagues exhibit of your own free will. May God forever hold you and your entire family close. I look forward to meeting all of you someday!

I am a teacher at Seoul American Elementary School. One of my students has chosen John to be her "Fallen Hero" next week at our Memorial Day Ceremony. Two hundred second graders have each chosen a soldier. They have written reports about their life and death. We will be making two cards, one to wear on the back of our shirts and another to pot on a Wall of Heroes. We will be singing songs and having a ceremony to honor each one. Afterwards all the kids will march around the HS football field for an honorary lap and then the school and visitors. He was chosen by Kallie MacDonald since he was a friend of Johns. We are proud to honor him and his scarifice will be remembered.
