Not sure what to say?

As a Navy Communicator I had the great good fortune to serve with John and to have shared his wonderful sense of humour and exceptional professionalism. This is a sad day for the Navy Communications Branch as well as his family. In a sense, Navy was part of his family. Thanks for everything John.

To Ricky and family and sister Dianne. I remember growing up with John as kids. Always had a lot of fun with you John your sister Dianne and brother Martin. Our parents were best friends. You were always so handsome. Sorry to hear you are no longer with us. From Dorothy Griggs (nee Gray)

On behalf of the US Military friends of John Balcomb we offer our sincere condolences to the entire Balcomb family. JB had an opportunity to share his life with many of the US Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines over the course of his career. Each one of us will never forget the wisdom, spirit, and determination he passed on to us.

To our fellow shipmate and sailor of the sea. Rest in peace JB.

Lonny Behar

My heart goes out to you and your family, Rikki. I met John in 2008 during a military planning exercise, and will never forget his wisdom and many shared laughs about IM/KM issues the past five years. He will be sorely missed by all of us in the US Pacific area comms community. R.I.P., CMDR Balcomb.

Remember John as I was young OrdCO back in 1971 at communications school where he was a great instructor. He was a great bloke and instructor way back then. R.I.P John

Ricki and Family, John will be Greatly and Dearly missed my all, sorry I could not make it to his day. Only just found out, He was and still a great inspiration to me. I will miss him, my thoughts are with you all.

John took over Perth from Gordon Paris as CPORS and at the time I was LSRO trying to make PO Both Gordon and John were wonderful mentors, but operated very differently. John loved being hands on in the Radcen and couldn't resist playing with the gear. Adrian Cummins was the skipper and tested everyone to the max. John was a terrific bloke, hard boss but very fair. I have very good memories of our working together...John Farrell

I had the pleasure of working with John twice during our careers. He was always the consumate professional and loved his craft. John was a good friend and mentor to me and we enjoyed a few drinks together. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. JB was an inspiration to the comms community and will be greatly missed.
My condolences to Ricki and family

Having known John since we were both OCOs, I have fond memories of those years growing up and enjoying life. It is when someone passes that you tend to think of all those good times you had together, and I know that during this pase week or more that I have thought about what we did together and as a result appreciate even more having known and worked with John. May he rest in peace.
