Garry BOLEN Obituary

April 1944 – December 1, 2012

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Garry Harold Bolen on December 1, 2012.
Garry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Eleanor, children Louise (Mike) from Nanaimo, Michael from Vancouver & Lisa from Calgary. His adored grandchildren Whitney, Wyatt, Morgan, Mack, Riley and Rhys; his very special sister-in-law Yvonne and cherished nieces Serena and Ashley; his brothers Ross (Jaspal) and Dale (Andrea), their children Craig (Kristy), Kristi (Jesse), Kelly (Allan) and their families, cousins; Ray (Janis), Wayne (Kathy) and Deborah (Robert). Garry's dear friends Bill (Pat) Stewart, Connie Blundy and Merle Belford as well as many more extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Joe and Helen Bolen (nee Mayeur) and his aunt Mary (Nick) Froh.
Garry was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to North Vancouver when he was four. His family owned Father & Son Apparel on the North Shore where he worked and managed, this is also where he caught sight of a beautiful stylist named Eleanor and they were married in 1967. He entered the window business and soon found his way to Starline Windows where he was still working at the time of his passing. Dad had so many people whose lives he touched and in turn touched his. His character was formed because of his grandfather Harold Mayeur, he was his mentor and helped mold him into the great man he was. Dad loved to put on his favourite hat get in his 350Z, drive slow in the fast lane and just smile at people as they went by. He was our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and confident and he will be forever missed by all. He is at his favourite place now "the Sky Pool" in Heaven.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the ICU staff at Lions Gate Hospital for the kind and compassionate care they took with our Dad and all of us during this most difficult time. In lieu of flowers a donation to the ICU Unit, LGH Foundation in Garry's memory would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to:

A heart of gold stopped beating.
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
The leaves and flowers may wither
The golden sun may set.
But the hearts that loved so dearly,
Are the ones who won't forget.

Eli, Michael, Louise and Lisa - there are no words to convey how wonderful a person Garry was. Garry's cherubic personality and smile will always shine from above. We were really lucky to be able to spend three days with Garry and Eleanor late in October.

Dear Bolen Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Garry's passing, a kind and long-time neighbour always ready to stop and ask whether things were alright. Barely living a block apart, within weeks St. Mary's Avenue has now lost two good family and buiness men whose children have gone to Carisbrooke School and who had been cherished by their families, and neither of them granted enjoyment of retirement.
My thoughts are with you and your great loss.
