Dorothy D. MacCollum, 98, recently of Oswego, passed away on Wednesday at St. Luke Residential Health Care Facility. She was born in Syracuse, raised in DeWitt, and had been a resident of Liverpool since the late 1940's. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, TDJ Sports located in the Coliseum at the fairgrounds. After raising her children, she returned to bookkeeping employed with the Village of Liverpool. Dorothy was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing and knitting hosting weekly get-togethers as well as teaching organ lessons. She liked to ski and was an excellent baker. Dorothy was a member of the Liverpool Garden Club, a Girl Scout Leader and volunteered along with her husband for over 30 years at Crouse Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband of 72 years, L. "Thomas" MacCollum in 2014, her daughter, Kathleen Gill, and her two sons, James and Timothy.
Surviving to remember her vibrant spirit are her son, Thomas A. (Jacqueline) MacCollum of Baldwinsville, two daughters, Karen (Michael) Donegan of Murrels Inlet, SC, Nancy (John) Leotta of Fulton, two daughters-in-law, Alicia and Vicki, son-in-law, Thomas, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister, Bette Taylor of Syracuse and two nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Dorothy donated her body to science.
A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date.
