All these months (and years!) later I have just learned about the deaths of both Pete and Maddy. Maddy was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding in 1951 - She and her family were extraordinary people in brightness and humor and compassion -- and she found a husband who possessed the same goodness! (I was younger by ten years and IDOLIZED her, even wished that she'd marry one of my big brothers...)
How lucky we all were to have Maddy and Peter in our lives - two who lived their love and their story so deeply and so privately. I still want to call 682 9791.
I'll never forget Mr. Finn.
I was saddened to go on line and read of Peter's passing. I had been thinking of him last week and wondered where he had moved to.
My late husband, Bill, and I had many fond memories of Pete & Maddy when we lived in Manlius. I believe John & Megan went to school with Brian & Bonnie.
May God Bless the family at this time.
Dear Folks: I was saddened to learn of Peter's passing. He was a great guy and I was fortunate to be his neighbor for a time here in Manlius just before he moved. Thanks. Jack Morse
Sorry for your loss. I remember your parents when I lived on Pompey Ctr. Rd.
I worked with Maddy at the VA and had the pleasure of meeting Peter at a Christmas party. What a pleasure he was to visit with. Peter and Maddy were truly caring individuals creating a remarkable couple. God Bless them and their family.
So hard to say a final goodbye to our very dear family friend and pal of over 50 years. We are comforted by the thought of Peter and Maddy together forever. We will remember "Mr Finn" as he looked in this picture..we miss his smile! Dick truly enjoyed helping Peter with his ongoing projects-they had great fun over many years figuring things out and discussing new technologies together. We feel lucky to be able to remember their legacy and love of nature as we continue to enjoy their beloved red farmhouse and caring for Peter's "playground" through our Katie and Mike. May God's peace be with the Finnerty family at this difficult time.
Love, Ann and Dick Bilharz
Pete and Maddy were the kindest, most loving couple. They were truly lovely people and we miss them so much. Claudia, Charles and Charlie Macek
Peter's infectious good humor and good nature will always be remembered. He was always ready with a word of kindness, a book or concept to read or discuss, and a political viewpoint. I'll miss him.
I'll remember Peter always for his Irish good humor and friendly ways. H e will be greatly missed.
May God Bless your family with our love and always remember the wonderful times from our childhood in the family together. Your Cousin Mary Jean and John.
We were so saddened to have heard that Mr. Finnerty passed away. He had such a huge influence on my life. We adored both of your parents and feel blessed to have had them in our lives for so long. Looking for and finding signs of Peter & Maddy's infinite love and presence here at the farm now that they are together. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and to all his closest friends who miss him... a long list for sure.
I offer my condolences to the Peter Finnerty Family at this difficult time. I have known Peter for a number of years from purchasing AMSOIL Products and was happy with his wisdom on the product. I lost track of Peter of recent years after selling the old homestead and his moving to MD. God Bless~
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Peter will be missed I loved going to see Him for oil and the time We spent there painting His house
