C. Bernard "Bernie" Quinn, 85, of Syracuse, died peacefully on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital with all his family present. He grew up on Tipp Hill and was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School. As a member of the first graduating class of Le Moyne College, Bernie was and continued to be very active in numerous organizations at Le Moyne. He was an inductee in the Goldwave Hall of Fame at Le Moyne, and a former member of the Alumni Board and Honor Society of Alpha Sigma Nu. He retired in 1989 after 30 years from General Electric. Bernie also served on the Solvay School Board, was a former member of the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus Christ the King Council 4114. He was a very active communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mr. Quinn was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII and Korea. He had served aboard the USS Currituck during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy; his children, Mary Ann (Thomas) Osinski of Syracuse, Jim (Jill) of Rochester, Pat (Patrice) of Syracuse and Theresa (Bob) Krause of Liverpool; two sisters, Patricia Bergfield of Houston, TX, and Mary Agnes Handlin of East Syracuse; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, with burial to follow in the Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street.
