Hazel Lee Miller

Hazel Lee "Mama Miller" Miller, 82, of Syracuse, departed this life, Wednesday April 3 at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. She was a member of Tucker MBC; where she served on the Usher Board for 47 years; Pastor's Aide Committee; she was member of the International Masons and Order of Eastern Star Lady Blue Lodge #348; Syracuse Housing Authority Board; and the Syracuse City Wide Council. She was formerly employed at St. Joseph's Hospital for 27 years until her retirement in 1993. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mattie and Rev. Harrison Riley Jr.; one son, Steven Andre Miller; one sister, Willie Mae Miller and one brother, James Arthur Riley; one grandson, Larry E. Lewis II. She leaves to cherish her memory six children, Patricia A. Lewis of Syracuse, Peggy J. Miller of Smyrna, GA, Donna J. Miller of Syracuse, Stephanie D. Miller of Austell, GA, Evanda Miller Jr. (Christina) of Mountain House, CA, Annette Anderson of Chicago, Ill; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Pruitt of Cleveland, OH; one brother, Cornelius Riley of Omaha, NE; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six godchildren, Frederick Greene, Lisa Tennial, Diane Houston Christine Brown, Antwaun Dixon and Davon Hunter; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including Deloise Jackson, Rejestice Bonhart, Lena Connors, Dorothy Murray, James Williams; her neighbor and friend Theo Evans and her Tucker MBC family.

Calling hours will be Saturday 10 a.m. to noon at Tucker MBC, 515 Oakwood Avenue, with Easter Star Services at 11 a.m.; funeral services to follow at noon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
