Ronald DeGeorge Obituary

June 27, 2012

Ronald James DeGeorge, 55, of Mexico, NY, passed away on Wednesday at Crouse Hospital after a valiant battle with lung cancer. His loving family was by his side.

Born July 22, 1956 to Ronald A. and Barbara A. DeGeorge, Ron grew up in Penfield, NY and Cape Vincent, NY. He worked for many years in the construction and trucking industries. He also earned a certification in Nursing and a USCG Maritime Captain's license. Ron was a former owner of Seaway Scuba Dive Charters and the owner/president of Tug Hill Transport, LLC at the time of his death.

Ron was the anchor of his family and enjoyed helping anyone, strangers and neighbors alike. He had a wonderful capacity to laugh and to love and would go to great lengths to let people know they were important. He adored and loved his wife and family more than life itself and thoroughly enjoyed being a grandparent. He lives selflessly, passionately and without regret. Those who knew Ron cherished the time they spent with him and appreciated his boisterous and insatiable appetite for life.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his son, Ronald (Carrie Easton); and grandson, Caleb of Rochester, NY; his son, Nickolas of Mexico, NY; his mother, Barbara of Rochester/Cape Vincent, NY, and his sister, Judy (Dale) Weber of Harleysville, PA. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald A. DeGeorge.

At Ron's request, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at a later date.

The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the staff of Hematology-Oncology Associates and of Crouse Hospital for their loving care and support during the last year.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being made by Harter Funeral Home, Mexico, NY.

We are so saddened to hear of this news. The first thing I think is how could this be, he was so FULL of life! I am sorry that we didn't take more time to spend time together. This life is surely "just a vapor". How quickly we live and then are gone. Ronnie, you will greatly missed. - your cousin Jill
