My condolences to the Stout family, God is for us a refuge and strength a helper during distresses. Psalms46:1

Ann, Juan and the rest of the family, I am so sorry about Stout's passing. My heart goes out to you and Juan. You and Stout seemed to be glued together to make a wonderful, loving couple. I remember the first time I saw Stout at the Kentucky Historical Society's Board meeting, I was so happy to see another African American--especially a good, strong, intelligent man. When I learned that he had published a book, I suggested that he put some copies in the bookstore so that everybody who visited the Kentucky History Center (Frankfort, Ky), would be able to see some of accomplishments and would get to know him on another level. He will truly be missed. May you and Juan find comfort in those great memories that you shared.

A great man with a wonderful heart always ready to help. You will be missed. This city and the country has lost a great man.

Mr. Stout taught me one of the most important lessons of my life; and that was to stand and face my problems. I'm sure he taught many others about life as well.
