Dean Clinton Kowalchyk (1957-2014)
Dean Kowalchyk, 57, was unexpectedly called upon to return to his Father Saturday February 15th, 2014.
Dean was a graduate of the University of Chicago and Ohio State University, the Senior Assistant General Attorney for the Florida State Government, and an active member and teacher at Thomasville Road Baptist Church.
Everyday Dean practiced what he preached to his Sunday school class and showed God's love, humility, kindness, and forgiveness to everyone around him. He was a loving father who raised three children, Mary, Walker, and Caroline Kowalchyk, and instilled these fundamental values, as well as many others, in them so that they would grow up to have the same impact on other's lives that he did. He taught them, not through words but through actions, to treat others with respect, to show dedication in everything they do, and to always look on the bright side no matter the circumstances.
Dean will be remembered by his children, friends, co-workers, and close church family as a caring man who loved God, a man who always put others before himself, a man who would have bent over backwards to help when it was needed, and a man who always knew just what to say when it seemed like your world was crashing down around you.
Remaining family members include: His children, Mary (18), Walker (16), and Caroline (15) Kowalchyk, his two sisters Gayle Kowalchyk and Kim Innis, his half-sister Rachel and his brother-in-law EL Lancaster. Dean was preceded in death by his father John Nicholas Kowalchyk, his mother Mary Louise, and his sister Karen.
Dean's life will be remembered and celebrated on Friday February 21, 2014 at 11:00 am at Thomasville Road Baptist Church where Dean was an active member. Friends, family, co-workers, and members of the church are all welcome to join in honoring Dean's life. The visitation ceremony will be Thursday February 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm, Beggs Funeral Homes, 3322 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32311, (850) 942-2929, and all are welcome to give their condolences and grieve with family members.
You have reached the gates of heaven and may angels lead you in.

Dean and I played in a rock band during high school. I had lost touch, and am deeply saddened, but the memories of him as an entertainer bring a smile to my face even now.

Dean meant a lot to me and my family. He made us want to be better people just by being with him. I will never forget the things he taught me, Love, Respect, Humility, Honesty and a genuine love for all of those in his life. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will always live on through those of us he touched and through his children whom he loved with all his heart.

Dean always spoke to us of how much his children meant to him and how proud he was of Mary, Walker and Caroline! He always brightened our day with his kindness and laughter! My prayers to the Kowalchyk and Walker families during this time of loss. May God comfort you and keep you close!

Dear Mary, Walker and Caroline,
There are no words to adequately express my sympathy for the loss of your father. He was a wonderful man who loved each of you unconditionally.
I will be eternally grateful to God for placing him in my life path when I needed him the most...Can't you can hear your dad saying "God has a Plan" or "Everything is in God's Timing"?
I will cherish our friendship forever...Remembering all those wonderful long lunches and how he always knew when a "Dean" hug was needed. They were the best!
I pray that you feel the love and presence of God as you walk through these next difficult days and weeks. Please know that I am here for you if there is anything you need...even if just to chat or for a hug.
In Christ Love,
Susan Lawrence

Although I only knew Dean for a short time, I did know that he loved his children very much and was very proud of them. They were the center of his universe. May he rest in peace.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Gayle and Kim,
I remember the many times you guys would come into town with your dad to Mother's dinners! What a blast I had with Dean, Matt,Phil and Gary as we chased the little kids around!I will never forget the day that Dean and I pricked our fingers and became "blood brother and sister!" Even though we haven't talked since whenever the last time he came with Johnny to go to Six Flags, I've always felt close to him in my heart.
I am so sorry after losng Karen not so long ago, you are going through yet another loss. One of your beloved brother. I love you all and will continue to think often of Dean . He was a great guy.
All my love
