I began working with Bill at the Florida Job Service as a disabled veteran's counselor in 1993. My wife had recently passed due to breast cancer and I was a new Navy retiree. I was depressed and without direction. Bill took me under his wing, taught me the job and got me started. Bill was great with all veterans and helped so many. I shall never forget him and I know that we shall meet again. May god bless his family. Rick Tallman

You were the greatest Mr. Bill. Thank you for always coming by the Resource Center checking in on me. Thank you for the much encouragement, many smiles, and your kind and giving heart. You were a dear man who truly cared about others. There are many veterans that came into the center looking for work that will never forget you as well, big smile (inside joke). God bless your family with thoughts of love and prayer.

Dear Pat and Rich and the rest of your family, I know what a close knit, amazing family you all are and my heart goes out to you with this very sad news. I am at a loss of words for your loss. I remember you all said he went to NY recently for a reunion and to see one of his daughters so I'm glad he was able to do that this year. Your family is in my heart and prayers!

I had the great honor of meeting Bill a few years ago at his daughters home in Tampa. What an incredible man who served his Country for 28 years. I will miss him......

I enjoyed the honor and pleasure of serving with Bill for the past 20 years or so under his leadership screening and interviewing West Point applicants. He made me proud to be a fellow grad, and I will truly miss his great wit, wisdom, and sense of humor. Well done Bill, be thou at peace.

Never met your father Leigh, but he has a great legacy in you.

I was so sorry to learn of Bill's death. For many years I had the pleasure of working with him during the West Point screening process. He was always a gentleman and I will miss his smile. My sincerest sympathies to his wife and family.

A man to be emulated on all fronts: fabulous father and husband; outstanding officer; inspiring mentor. Bill's legacy will live on in many hearts.
