Dear Sharon and family,
My thoughts are with you at this time. I would like to express my sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathy for the passing of my dear friend Russell. A gentleman. Often a man of few words, but certainly a man whose actions always spoke louder than words. from the first time we met and worked together in Bougainville back in 86,and Porgera in 88,and right up to the end - I have always thought of "Russ" as being a true friend. A friend who will always be dear to me, and one whom I will certainly greatly miss. The world is indeed a poorer place now without him in it. May he rest in peace...
I will certainly call in to pay my respects the next time I'm in Aotearoa and the "Naki".
From his old Pommie mate Dave.

Hi Sharon. Yes it's me. I was looking for you to tell you my sad news then found this message. I can't believe that our mates chose the same month to leave us. Netty passed away on the 6th of Feb. I'll send you a card so we can get in touch.

I saddened to hear of the passing of a Man I have known as Russ. His quite no fuss demeanor, will be very much missed on the Deep Orient. At the dinner table after shift how he spoke of great pride of children and their achievements.
Rest in peace my friend.

We were very surprised and shocked to hear of the sudden loss of our good mate "No Fuss Russ". Your knowledge and easy attitude always made it a pleasure for others to work with you on the back deck. Will miss having a beer with you and your dry sense of humour. Condolences to the family from the deck crew on the Deep Orient.
