Wilfred W. Bud Pierce, Sr., 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. He was the loving husband of Barbara J. (Roy) Pierce, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. Wilfred was born in Dighton and was the son of the late Wilson H. And Laura (Silvia) Pierce. Wilfred served his country honorably in the US Navy aboard the USS Ranger during World War II and was employed as a maintenance foreman at Swank Manufacturing in Attleboro for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Berkley American Legion and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Wilfred was a talented carpenter and enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and summers with his family on Cape Cod. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Wilfred W. Willy Pierce, Jr and his wife Cheryl of Raynham, Jeanette M. Furtado and her husband Daniel of Berkley and Marilyn J. Grear and her husband Joel of Rehoboth; sister, Marjorie Fitzgerald of Onset; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 9am from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, 499 Spring St., N. Dighton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1-4pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 57, Taunton, MA 02780.
