To the family of Mr. Alonso:
I saw Braulio Alonso's obituary in the paper last night and I was flooded with a lot of memories of my time with Mr. Alonso. Mr. Alonso was the principal of King High School from which I graduated in 1965. I worked 1 class period in the principal's office where the old trunk phone system was and that was what I did was to answer the phones for 1 hour daily. I remember exactly what happened the day when school was in session and Mr. Alonso received word that President Kennedy had been assinated and he went to his knees and wept. After he regained some composure, school was immediately dismissed and school was out during the entire time of Kennedy's funeral etc. After I graduated, I from time to time would think about Braulio Alonso and wondered what had happened to him. That is my memory from my high school days. I have always remained in Tampa. From what I read he was a great person of many accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the entire Alonso family, please accept our deepest sympathies. You don't know us but we have two children who proudly attend Braulio Alonso High School. One graduated last Thursday. We loved the write up in Monday's paper about Mr. Alonso's life and have clipped it out as a keepsake for our children. We want them to know who he was and be inspired by his passion. Mr. Alonso has touched the lives of people like us he will never even know. What an amazing man! We feel as though our children have been given a gift and wanted you to know.

When Braulio spoke, I listened...and always learned something. He truly was a great man that will be missed by all.
Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Dear Barbara, Kenneth and family: Braulio was a special and humble man that brought hope, passion, education and light to many lives through the years. We will miss him but never forget. The Man of the Century!--the greatest gift he gave all of us: his friendship.

Barbara & family,

We would like to express the sadness we felt when we heard of your loss. Your dad was our principal only for one year but it might as well have been all three years. We enjoyed his company and yours at our 45th class reunion. He will be missed at our 50th.

Our prayers are with you,
