My condolences to the family. It was a privilege to have spent any time with Dr. Alonso. I remember when he and Bebe would visit the school. After her passing, I was even more impressed by his strength. The world may have lost a great man, but it is a much brighter place as a result of his influence.

We express deep sadness for ourselves and our community hearing of Mr. Alonso's passing. We are some of the most fortunate people; he was our high school principal at Jefferson HS. We have always remembered Mr. Alonso as our example of dignity and fairness, always challenging us to excel. Many times over the years his name has come up in conversation for all he has done for us. Our sincere sympathy goes to his family and friends.

Braulio and I were long-time friends. He and Bebe were a delight to know. At Christmas he told me of his illness and that he didn't intend to do anything about it. I miss him and think he was one of the finest men I;ve ever known, and one of the most intelligent. What a loss to our country!

Dear Kenneth and Barbara,
My first acquaintance with you father dates to the early 50's when I served on his faculty at West Tampa J.H.S. As I reflect on those years I am awed by his selfless dedication to his profession. Heaven will be an even greater place with his arrival.

T0 The Alonso Family,
We truly loved Braulio and we can testify he truly loved all of you. He took great pride in telling of your achievements while never boasting of his own--except maybe the High School which bore his name. He loved Tampa as we learned
from the inevitable excursion we took whenever we stopped
for a visit. You were blessed with great parents in Braulio and Bebe. May you continue to be blessed by God and may they rest in peace.

I am privileged to have known Braulio personally through bible study at Christ the King. I can say that I will likely never personally know a greater human being in my lifetime. He was a real treasure, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I echo the Whitings' comment - our loss is Heaven's gain!

To the family of Mr. Alonso:
I saw Braulio Alonso's obituary in the paper last night and I was flooded with a lot of memories of my time with Mr. Alonso. Mr. Alonso was the principal of King High School from which I graduated in 1965. I worked 1 class period in the principal's office where the old trunk phone system was and that was what I did was to answer the phones for 1 hour daily. I remember exactly what happened the day when school was in session and Mr. Alonso received word that President Kennedy had been assinated and he went to his knees and wept. After he regained some composure, school was immediately dismissed and school was out during the entire time of Kennedy's funeral etc. After I graduated, I from time to time would think about Braulio Alonso and wondered what had happened to him. That is my memory from my high school days. I have always remained in Tampa. From what I read he was a great person of many accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the entire Alonso family, please accept our deepest sympathies. You don't know us but we have two children who proudly attend Braulio Alonso High School. One graduated last Thursday. We loved the write up in Monday's paper about Mr. Alonso's life and have clipped it out as a keepsake for our children. We want them to know who he was and be inspired by his passion. Mr. Alonso has touched the lives of people like us he will never even know. What an amazing man! We feel as though our children have been given a gift and wanted you to know.

So many wonderful memories, but for me the memory that most exemplifies BeBe and Braulio would be of visiting them in Alexandria when Grady was only 6 months old and how much knowledge they imparted to us in that short visit. They held our attention because they made it fun and so very interesting! ....they were always teaching, they just could not help but do so!

Dear Barbara and Family:
Even though I never knew your father in a professional environment it is obvious that he was a great leader, a patriot, and an extraordinary man.
My knowledge of Braulio was that of a tremendous Catholic man who loved his faith and was never shy about teaching it and spreading it to others.
He was alway kind and cheerful with me and I consider Braulio the finest lector I have ever listened to... a true proclaimer of the word!
Go with God, Braulio, and thank you for all that you have done with your life... you will be missed!

Braulio and Family,
Wow! What a talented and caring man who enjoyed helping people and knew his responsibility of carring out the work of the Lord, as stated in Matthew 25:35-40.
While growing up in Tampa, I attended and walked the same halls of some of the schools that Braulio had also walked. I latter moved away, but when visiting, I would always hear Braulio's name mentioned from family and friends of the family when visiting my roots in Tampa. Braulio will always be respected and loved from the circles of the lives he touched: like The Bilt-Rite Awning Co,the Guy Vasquez's, the D' Arpa's, the Conte's and the Guy St. Paul's friends and families, as well as, the group of old friends of Braulio's, who met weekly at the West Tampa Sandwich Shop.
God Bless You All,
Bruce Vasquez

Dear Barbara, Kenneth and family
My condolences on the passing of your father. He was a great dad, person and all around human being. I remember going to your house as a child with the Pelaez family many times. Susan and I were childhood friends. Your father has left a legacy that will never be duplicated. Always out going and there for anyone who needed his services. He was the keynote speaker at my daughters graduation from USF, the day of his 90th birthday. You and I spoke briefly at the reception afterwards at the College of Education..He is now at peace with his beloved BeBe. God Bless.
