Raw talent wise, the greatest football player South Carolina has ever produced, and a humble servant of his people. I will be speaking at Frank Small's foru year anniversary memorial service which will take place right after Freddie's today in Sumter,SC. The two were best buddies at Sumter High and at the University of Tampa, and continued to play football together there. They had nicknames for each other...Freddie's nickname was "Smoke" and Frank's nickname was "Dick".

I met Freddie at University of Tampa, when a few of my homeboys from Tarpon Springs(spongers) joined him in 1972 as a Spartan. I used to skip school to see Freddie practice I was 15y/o at the time He told me in that very soft spoken voice of his. That I could come to the games& see him play, if I went to school made good grades he would pay for my ticket. At this time he was the MAN of TU. He had the effect of getting you to do what was right and doing your Best at it, &With a smile. He always followed the rules and want you to do the same.It was not just about football with him. He would say you need to have an education something you can always fall back on cause, you can't play football all your life. Granted I am female.I just loved the way he so sweetly played the game, He was Fabulous Freddie,Fast Freddie, Honest Freddie,& Smiling Freddie. He was all he could be, and that's all he wanted from the next person. His game said it all, but when Freddie spoke everyone listen. He was soft spoken but his word came over loud, clear, and meaningful. He always smiled and you would to if you ever had contact with him. At this time of loss, May you all know, His Compassion, His Grace, and His Love.May the love of God surround his Family during this time of sorrow. You're in my thoughts and prayers. He is the Greatest and will always be, cause he touch so many lives in his crossing, Thus his passing for ever living on.

We were mostly friends in passing. But when our paths would cross, Freddie always left me in a better place. I am proud to have known Freddie. My prayers are certainly with the Solomon family as well as all whose lives Freddie touched who will miss his shining presence.

Saw every game Freddie played for U of Tampa. Most exciting player to ever play the game. Talked to him a few times at HCSO and he was always a very positive and happy person. Miss you Freddie!
