I had the opportunity to work with this wonderful role model for our inner city youth while working with Hillsborough County 4-H. He would stop by our office to tell us where we needed to organize new clubs for "his kids." He taught the young people that they could be whatever they wanted to be as long as they were willing to work hard. He had high standards for all of them and they loved him for it. Freddie, often would drop by the office with a check to send kids from the inner city to 4-H Camp. Many of these kids had never been out of Tampa. Freddie had a heart of goal and never wanted recogniton for the things that he did for others. I feel sure God looked down at all the wonderful opportunities he had made possibe for the kids and said "Well done good and faithful servant, it is time for you to come home." I will always remember Freddie and hearing him say as he would leave our office, "Stay Sweet." I am so sad that my friend has left us on earth and will look forward to some day seeing him in Heaven. My heart goes out to his wife, Dee, who he always refered to as his girlfriend when he gave donations. I know her heart is heavy and can only hope as she reads what people are saying about her husband will in some small way ease the pain a little. My prayers are with her.
