I had the Honor to read the name Brittany B. Gordon on June 15th at the Illinois Freedom Run and Mideast Conflicts Wall Memorial in Marseilles, Illinois. Being a Gold Star Family ourselves, our hearts go out to the Family and Friends of this beautiful young Woman Warrior. We mourn along with you on such a trajic loss.

To the Gordon Family. My name is Jim Vanderbleek and I live in St. Pete. I went to St. Pete High. I wanted to find a way to honor our military families that have given thier all. Your daughters Fallen Floridian Cross will be set up this Memorial 2013 in Oviedo, Florida. The photo attached is a small example of the tribute honoring our Fallen Floridians.

She sounds likes very special, brave, and unique woman. I want the family to know there are no words to say how much I along with many many others appreciate our freedom, and we will not forget it cost you your daughter as she layed down her life for us. I placed a small flag at the right side of the grave today of a beautiful hero. I was not able to attend the service, wake, or procession...but I made it a point to visit the resting site alone...I am Iraq vet, so it helped me to just be alone with your daughter and let her know how proud we all are of her..I must say, leaving the cemetary today I was filled with ANGER, but I know she is in spirit with us all...To the parents continue to take care of yourselves and EACH OTHER, be there for each other in times of comfort-your daughter is OUR hero and your LEGACY..BE PROUD and Carry ON............Nichelle Young Sgt(Retired US ARMY)

I regret I did not have a chance to know her as a young woman but I can see she steadfastly fed that special spark within her and grew into an amazing young woman full of courage and determination. I was deeply saddened with the news about the death of your daughter, Brittany, while she served her country in a foreign land.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you and your family. Since hearing the news about your loss, you have been in my thoughts and prayers daily. I never had the good fortune to meet Brittany, but knowing you, her mother, I am confidant she too was a person of outstanding character. Her willingness to serve our country in a combat zone, speaks volumes of her character. You must be very proud!

I know how much you will miss Brittany. But she is in a better place now, with no fears, worries, or pain. She will prepare a place in Heaven for her family to follow one day.
