My condolences to the family of
Colleen Bevis. May the many precious memories you have of Colleen sustain you through the difficult days ahead.
In 1977 I was hired as the founding President & Chief Executive Officer of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. That assignment provide me the honor, privilege, and pleasure of working closely with Colleen Bevis when she served on the, then named, HRS District Mental Health Board, only one of many boards she served on. A little known fact is that Colleen Bevis is one of two women who is directly responsible for the creation of the Center. The Crisis Center enjoys its sustainability because of the tireless effort she put in to its creation.
She was the consulate champion for the welfare of children. She was the type of person that no matter where she, everyone knew her. She contributed much and asked for nothing in return.
She leaves behind a stellar history of service to the community, high-quality services, especially for children, and a grateful community.
Thank you Mrs. Bevis and may you rest in peace, no deserve nothing less.
Colleen was such a great teacher and advocate for our children! She inspired me and many others to make child welfare our passion and life's work. She is missed!
Connie, you always had a beautiful smile each time I saw you, and I enjoyed seeing you when Cay was in town and we would come and visit with you. You are one 'beautiful lady' and will be missed by everyone who knew you. Thank you for contributions in the field of education.
Love, Carma Crawford
What a wonderful lady. You will be missed.
For over a decade I worked with Colleen on education, health care and child advocacy plans and programs. She was brave, tireless and effective. There probably won't ever again be anyone who comes close to her impact in our community.
You worked hard, Colleen. Rest in peace, dear friend. You deserve it.
Thank you for sharing your Mom with all of us at Florida PTA. She was a delightful lady and it was an honor to meet her and talk with her about all she did for the children of Florida.
From 1956 thru 1987,(DPW--HRS} the agency never lost a kid in foster care or protective supervision. Terrific staff and intense interest by Colleen. What a combination to serve Hillsborough County. An honor to know her for so long. She is in the prayers of many.
Colleen was a wonderful friend of children and families everywhere, and one of my greatest teachers.
What an honor to know & love Colleen. She was a guiding light to all who knew her. Heaven will be a better place with her there!!
