Uncle Gigi I Miss You And Love You.-Your Great Neice Bre :)
Thank you J.R. for being such a positive, loving and true friend. Your light will carry on through all of us that have had the privilege to have known you and the love in your heart. You will be missed now, but LOVED FOREVER. The only thing that makes your passing any easier to bear is that I know that Heaven has gained your beautiful soul.
To Mr. Shorter's family - you were blessed with a man of courage. As a community, so were we. When I read of his death, in my hometown, I ached. It would have been an honor to know him. I'm sorry for your loss.
Goodbye, my friend. May you finally find the peace you sought for others.
To the Shorter Family with deepest sympathy: We hold you in our thoughts and prayers, as we rely on the Lord, in all His grace and mercy, to provide peace in these hours, that surpasses understanding.
Service Information is as follows: BETHEL CHURCH 1510 W HILLSBOROUGH AVE TAMPA FL 33603 ON SATURDAY 7/27 @ 11am.
He was a great friend. It was an honor to call him my friend. Even though we only met six months ago, he made you feel like family, and he left the greatest impression on me and my friends. Some people come into your life only for a short time to teach you something. J.R. taught me how to be caring, kindhearted person, and to really make my friends feel like the light of my life. He will be greatly, greatly missed each and everyday, but his memory will forever live on in the way I learned to treat those I care about.
I would like to honour him by coming to the funeral service ...unfortunately don't know where it's beeing held on Saturday
I am a volunteer at memorial hospital...as was he...unfortunately we ever met
I always enjoyed working with Shorter. He was always upbeat. May god hold you in his hands. My condolences to the Shorter family.
'Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.' John 15:13. You, Horsley proved the love you had for others. You shall be missed.
We will truly miss you Jr. You were truly a TROOPER both in the military and in life.
My condolences to the family.
Rufus R. Anderson I, CMSgt USAF retired.
I am proud to call him my friend. This man was a model for others, showing us how to walk in the light. He would take the time to listen and comfort anyone in need. My family and I will miss him and always be thankful for crossing paths with this wonderful soul. I am thankful for our last casual conversation he could always make me laugh. My prayers are with his family.
...one will never meet a more kind, couth, and brave soul, than this of Horsley...proud to call you "friend", rest in peace.
I did not know Mr. Shorter, but I cried when I saw this story on the news. This story and Mr. Redding's story both saddened me so much.
I am thankful for his 26 years of serving our country and from what I have heard on the news and read about him, he was also an outstanding man in our community, a beloved family member and friend, also a HERO.
My prayers are with his family and friends and I hope they find comfort and peace knowing this man did leave this Earth doing exactly what everyone in this guest book described him as... Looking out for others... Being selfless... Helping his employee... Coming to the rescue... Being a HERO. Though his time was too short, he left here an honorable and brave man and so many people have been touched by his life... Even strangers like me.
May God bless each of you. You are all very blessed already for having been a part of his life.
RIP Horsley Shorter Jr.
How I will miss the look on my boyfriends face when he spoke with you. Pure happiness. You were a true Angel and your love will live forever in our hearts..

You now have a hero's welcome in heaven. To me, that's something special. You left fighting...
Jr, Thanks for always being a friend; texting, calling and just keeping up with me and my family throughout the years. It was unlikely that we would still be friends today after meeting at our Guard drill in '89, but you made it so by always being there. Thanks! We'll miss you, Brother Horsley!
You will truly be missed. I met you when you were 14 years old, even though we lost touch over the years, when we reconnected, it was like No years had passed. I'm gonna miss your smile and humor....Who am I gonna laugh with now that you are gone?.....Love ya....RIP you are truly MY HERO
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Rest in peace my friend. It's not often you feel the soul of a person, Shorter you touched many people lives in a positive way. My dear personal friend I will always love you. Dorothy Lewis, SMSgt USAFR Retired…….
This was my mentor when I got to Macdill in 03. He and I were both former Army and had the exact same MOS (job)there. I was able to utilize him as a map on what I needed to do going forward in my career and to be able to advance in rank. We both had to OJT (on the job training) into the Air Force. We did not get formal school because our Army job transitioned over to the Air Force. Nicest man I could have ever had the pleasure of knowing. RIP my friend and former mentor, miss and love ya...
My friend my brother,
Not week went by that we did not speak; if it did you would always call and ask what was wrong. My heart hurts that we will not have those weekly sessions; you truely cared and never expected anything in return. You bcame my brother from the day we met and you will forever be in my heart. I miss you already and I know your dancing in the heavens and smiling down on us. Your infectious smile and kind heart will be missed by us all. Until we meet again my friend; keep me a place on the dance I will be there in due time!
Jr....you had that light here, and your light will continue in heaven....till we meet again my friend...you are deeply missed....
To the Family & Friends...May God bless you in this time of sorrow. RIP Jr.

I am so heart broken that I lost you way to soon, I could never put into words how I am feeling right now but I do know that I will cherish every memory I have of you. You have touched so many peoples lives with your gentle and kind soul, you always went out of your way to help people and that is so rare to find anymore, this world lost a special and one of a kind man that is a hero because that is exactly what you where. I will miss seeing your beautiful smile that brightened up a room and that laughter that was so wonderful to hear and your funny since of humor, I will miss those big tight and loving hugs you always gave me every time I seen you, I will miss dancing with you all night long and doing our thing that was only between me and you.. you know the ironing board move :) I will miss listening to your stories and all of your positive and thoughtful and uplifting words. You could always make people's day by just being the wonderful person you were. You were such an amazing friend to my husband and I, we were blessed to have all the memories and fun times we had from going out to clubs to going out to eat and just enjoying each other's company. I am so thankful the last time I seen you when you surprised me by coming out that it was a great and fun night we danced and laughed and you came back to our house and we had a blast you were so loving and smiling and laughing with us all and that is the way I will always remember you. I love you so much I wish I got to have that last hug longer than I did because if I knew what I know now I would of held onto you forever and never let you go. You lived your life to the fullest in every way and that makes me smile. I will not say goodbye to you but I will say see you later my sweet dear friend and I cant wait to see you again. XOXOXO!!!
My friend! He would come into my office at the fitness center on base and just stand there with his head in the 3/4 pose. I would look up and say, come here You! and we would just hug. Everyone needs a Horsley in their life. I will see you later my good, good friend!
I remember serving with Horsley in the Air Force Reserve. He always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. It was so sad to learn of his death on the evening news. I pray for his family at this very difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. Jr you will be truly missed!
Oh how we use to party hard back in the day! You will always have a place in my heart. I am glad we reconnected on facebook. I just wish we had resumed our friendship a little sooner. Junior, I will always love you, my lifelong friend and brother.
I met JR when he was stationed in Hawaii and he was truly the first person who made me feel welcomed in an environment that was foreign and not very welcoming to me. I was happy to see him again working at HQ USSOCOM at MacDill AFB and enjoyed chats with him in the hallway catching up on family. JR shared his smile and laugh with everyone. He was already an Angel on earth and now he's a Hero in Heaven. May God Bless his family with the strength and courage to endure in their time of grief.
Junior, I will miss your smile and words of encouragement. Even though, we saw each other once a year,I was embraced by your kind words. We will miss you and think of you daily...
May his soul rest in peace, and the good Lord watch over his family.
I met Mr Shorter 4 weeks ago ouside his store when I was hit by another vehicle, and my vehicle came to rest at his store.
Mr Shorter was the first one there, and he called 911 and my supervisor for me after the accident. Furthermore, he stayed with me until TPD, & TFR arrived.
I never had a chance to go by and tell him thank you for his assistance & concern, but I will never forget his kindness.
Junior, I love you. I am so glad that we ended each of our conversations with these words.
I love Junior more than words can describe. He was more than a relative to me, he was one of my dearest friends. My heart aches at the reality of not talking to him again. I was looking forward to seeing you at next week's Family Reunion and anticipating the "big" celebration of your 50 birthday and seeing just how sharp you were going to be. I miss you much. Love your cousin, your friend.
The world is a lesser place without you.
