I am a visitor to St. Stephen's Church when I come to Florida and it's my church away from home.
Monsignor Scully often celebrated Mass when I was in attendance. I will certainly miss him and keep him in my prayers.
His name will be written in November at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame du Lac in South Bend, Indiana.
God has brought you home, Monsignor Scully. Rest in Peace.
Thank you for giving to the Lord Monsignor Scully. You lived what you believed, and believed what you lived. Well done my good and faithful servant.

I first heard about Monsignor Scully's passing while he was celebrating Mass at 3:00 P.M. 10/22 on Spirit FM. I was shocked and saddened to lose such a wonderful and such a holy priest from our Parish, but then I thought what a beautiful way for such a holy priest to go home to the Lord. When he celebrated Mass, his voice was so powerful and so strong - you wanted to catch every word. I went to confession with him a weeks ago and he made it so easy - he gave me a brochure of Catholic prayers and said I should say "Jesus I trust you" every day which I now do. When he celebrated Mass he sometimes would say that if you say 10 Our Father's, 10 Hail Mary's and 10 Glory Be's every day, you'll find such peace in your day. I started doing that today. He had the most beautiful Funeral Mass I had ever been to last night. It was very moving. When it was over, the lady next to me said "this was so beautiful I don't want to leave". It was such an honor to have Monsignor Scully at St. Stephen. We will all miss him so much and will never forget him.
Monsignor Scully meant the world to my family. He helped found St Patricks church where my Grandparents attended. Mryl and Chrystal McAdam opened their home and lives to Monsignor Scully, however at that time it was Father Scully. My Mom, Mary Lou McAdam Byerley and Dad, William H. Byerley Jr. were married by Father Scully and I was baptised by him as well. My family kept in touch with Monsignor Scully from the 50's to the very end. We always enjoyed hearing from him especially when he was in Africa. Last year Monsignor laid my Mom down in her final resting place. He comforted all of us during our time of grief. Just 3 weeks ago, though in a frail condition, Monsignor Scully insisted to go visit my Grandmother, Chrystal McAdam, now living in Sun City Center. What a God loving man. To me he was a Saint and always will be. I feel blessed knowing he is watcing all of us as an angel of God and is no longer suffering earthly pain.
Monsignor Scully, you are now where you should be, next to our Lord and Savior. I remember many happy sermons you gave at St.Patrick's School in South Tampa. You are the true meaning of beliving in God. Rest in Peace and welcome home! LynnMarie Boltze
Monsignor Scully, such a beautiful holy priest who cared so much for all. Always present before the Holy Sacrament that it was no wonder our Lord brought him home during the consecration of the Mass. We will all miss him greatly but will be able to pray to Monsignor to intercede for us.
May the perpetual light shine upon Monsignor Scully.
St Stephen Catholic Church was blessed to have benefit of his wisdom. We rejoice that the Lord called his humble servant during morning Mass. To the Scully family - Thank you for allowing his parishoners to celebrate their faith with his ministry. You were always in his prayers. May the Lord bless you in this time of grief.
God Bless you Monsignor for he has called another angel to him
Monsignor Scully, you will be miised by all. Thank you for making confessions easy. You are in Gods loving arms mow.
I met Father Scully when he was assigned to St. Therese Parish in Everett, Massachusetts. I was in high school at the time. He was a wonderful confessor and always there for the youth in our parish. My friendship with him started at that time and has continued through the years. He was always there for me whether it be small problems or major decisions or just for "catching up". Father truly understood his calling and lived his life for God and for God's people. Can't you just hear the Lord saying--"Welcome, good and faithful servant!" I have been blest indeed to have such a wonderful and faith-filled friend.
He was such a blessing to St. Stephen, as I imagine he was for all of the other parishes and schools at which he served faithfully for the last 62 years. His legacy will surely be felt for many years to come. He will be sorely missed, but I know the we have another saint in Heaven praying for us all. May we never forget the example he set.
Gentle man of God. So dedicated to the ministry. Coming to celebrate Mass when we thought that he should have been resting. May he rest in peace after a long and fruitful life.
Went to St.Stephens, Nativity, and St.Francis, all the places you've been and my prayers go out for you and family
God blessed us with you, such a beautiful testimony to our faith. My family and I are thankful to have known you, and to have learned from you. While you will be missed by many whose lives you touched, we are happy to know you are in Heaven now.
Prayers go with you to the Lord, as do thanks for what you did for my classmates and I many years ago at Tampa Catholic High School.
God has called upon another Angel.
It was a priviledge to have Msgr. at our parrish. Such a soft spoken, caring, Christ like individual. You will be missed.

Monsignor Scully touched and blessed many lives including mine. He always had words of wisdom to share with you and he was a great teacher. I loved that about him. He loved our Blessed Mother and promoted the recitation of the rosary often. He encouraged you to say the morning offering so that all your prayers, works, joys and sufferings of your day would be united with the passion of Christ. Always teaching and always encouraging.
Rest in peace. You will be greatly missed.

Monsignor Scully was a man of great faith, he could always be found before and after mass hearing confessions. I find it very spiritually moving that at the moment he was holding the body of Christ in his hands, Jesus took him by the hand home to heaven GOD bless this man. Jose Martinez, Robin Boyle. This is an example of someone who has devoted all his life to be a servant of our Lord, but the local Press never bother to cover. Well, the Good Lord will honor him, and he will be exalted. Peace be with him...
Our family was blessed to have known and loved a sacred man like him.
I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH HIM ON A FEW OCCASIONS. EACH TIME I ENJOYED HIS WISDOM AND AS HE WAS QUOTED SIMPLY STATED "I WISH I COULD DO MORE"
I am sure he is dancing with the Angels and loving the beautiful site of our Lord Jesus Christ.
