He will be greatly missed, and hard to replace in office. Prayers to his family. From a retiree of the Tax Collector's Office after 27 years.
It's difficult to categorize Mike Olson, family man, politician, administrator, hunter, musician. We worked together for ten years. I learned a great deal. He was a perfectionist. His highest priority was service. I' sorry I missed the chance, he suggested we would have coffee and break bread. My condolences to Mary and the family. He is in a better place and he went out with his boots on.
We lost an extraordinary person. Hoping we get to fulfill his further vision for the county. So sorry for the family to lose their rock. May God's strength be with you.

From the earliest time I knew Mike - prior to being appointed to the County Commission by Governor Reubin Askew to replace Commissioner Strauber - He wanted to serve the public in some official capacity. He always strove to serve with true dedication. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Good hunting and fishing. May you rest in peace. May God be with your family as they deal with the loss of your presence.

Dear Mary my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very sad time. Be strong.I am deeply sorry for your loss of your beloved husband.
Mike Olson was an old family friend and will be missed by all of us. He did an excellent job as tax collector and organized that office into a really efficient branch of the government. My dad was involved in one of his political campaigns and I was recruited to campaign for him by holding a sign up all afternoon at the now defunct Bank of Holiday parking lot. I will never forget that (hot & sweaty!) I admired him as a politician and as an individual. He contributed a great deal to this county and the community. Another old timer gone! My husband Larry and I convey our deepest sympathy to Mary and the family.
Remembering my cousin Mike who used to ride me on the back of his scooter through the orange groves when we would visit from Jacksonville. This is John (Punky) Knowles in Nashville, Tennessee.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. I am a former employee of Mr.Olson. Always enjoyed working for the tax collector.
