Jack ABERNATHY Obituary

ABERNATHY, Jack F., 88, passed away May 21, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa, graduating from Hillsborough High School. He attended the University of Florida where upon he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in WWII with the 106th infantry division. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and imprisoned until the liberation by U.S. Forces. He spent his career in the automobile business. He was proud of his service to his country and most importantly, his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nora E. Abernathy; his three children, daughter, Sandra and Ted Palfy; daughter, Susie and Wayne Timmerman; son, Jack and Shelia Abernathy; grand-children, Kim Gouge, Nikki Bedell, Kevin Ferguson, Bryan Abernathy, Shara Rutledge; and 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at James A. Haley VA Hospital and Suncoast Hospice. Graveside services will be held at 10 am May 25 at the Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa.
