BALLANTYNE, Mildred G., lost her 13 year battle with cancer, August 10, 2011. Born June 24, 1927, in Wauchula, Fla., she was a graduate of Wauchula High School and attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, Fla. A lifelong resident of Hardee County, Mrs. Ballantyne was a homemaker and a citrus grower for over 60 years. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy I. Ballantyne; and her brother, Ward W. Gillette Jr. Mrs. Ballantyne is survived by her daughters, Kathy Mulcay and husband, Bill, and Debbie Pyle and husband, Jim, all of Wauchula; grand-daughters, Kelly Lowe and husband, Mike, of Lakeland, Fla., and Karen Kelly and husband, David of Eustis, Fla.; and five great-grand-children, Matthew, Sarah and Anna Lowe of Lakeland, and Katherine and J.T. Kelly of Eustis. Additionally, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Peggy Gillette of Wuachula and Carlotta Sinclair of Independence, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Jim Ballantyne, also of Independence. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. August 13 at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow, with the Rev. Darrell Arnold, Mr. William T. Mulcay Jr. and Mr. David R. Kelly officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the Wauchula Cemetery.
