Dear Mrs. Kane,
Please accept my sincerest sympathies for your loss. You may remember that Tom hired me, Deuce, at Bear Stearns in 1980, where I worked for Tom until his retirement. I remember Tom with great respect and fondness, and he had a huge impact on me as I grew personally and professionally. He was very good to me, stood by me, and was always supportive. I have thought of him often over the years, remembering his quick smile, his humor, his funny stories, and the good times we had back then.
May I leave you with words that gave me great comfort recently, and that I hope will do the same for you: "He whom you cherished and lost is no longer where he was...he is now wherever you are".
Alan "Deuce" Kanuk
