(Harney) Lewos
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL - August 1st, 1942 - June 26th, 2013
Nancy J. Lewos, of Ponte Vedra Beach FL, passed away at Atria San Pablo, in Jacksonville, FL, on June 26th, 2013, with her loving children and devoted husband by her side. Nancy was born in Worcester, MA, on August 1st, 1942.
She was predeceased by her parents, Russell A. and Anne M. (Buckley) Harney both of Worcester, and her older brother Cpt. Russell F. Harney of Charleston, SC.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 48 years Ronald W. Lewos; son, Ronald W. (Coleen) Lewos, II, daughter, Susan D. (Jason) Lewos-Schuh, son, Michael A. (Chrystal) Lewos; 7 grandchildren: John and Claire Lewos, Margaux A., Madeleine and Sam Schuh, Cade and Conley Lewos. Nancy is also survived by her sister Maureen A. (Harney) Walsh of Newton Centre, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was a graduate of Classical High School, Worcester in 1960 and received her BA degree from Anna Maria College Paxton, MA, in 1965. Her professional career was devoted in service to others. She served briefly as a teacher in the American Elementary School in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She was a Social Worker and Supervisor for Broward County, FL, Social Services, for over 21 years, where she was simultaneously responsible for the Ft. Lauderdale Multi-Purpose Center, Emergency Assistance Unit, Boarding Home Program, and Indigent Burial Program. She was a social worker for Sonoma County, CA Social Services, a teacher in the Head Start Program in Reno and Carson City, NV, where she worked closely with Native American families, providing early education for children and parenting classes for adults. She was a social worker for The Regional Center of Orange County, CA, providing services and assistance to families of the "developmentally disabled". Nancy was a "social worker extraordinaire". She ended her career by working for her favorite store, Stein Mart.
Nancy had a strong Catholic Faith which she practiced, and was a dedicated member of San Sebastian Catholic Church in St. Augustine. She was an amazing woman, loving wife and mother who was most happy when spending time with her family. Nancy enjoyed traveling, time with friends, jazzercise, and chocolate. Nancy had an infectious smile and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 2 PM at San Sebastian Catholic Church at 1112 State Road 16, St. Augustine, FL. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memory of Nancy to: Community Hospice Foundation of North Florida. https://support.communityhospice.com/donate

Ron and family,
Words cannot express how saddened I am to hear this. I just read it in the Sun Sentinel. We've lost touch and I've thought of her often. If you remember,Ron,I emailed you c/o Remi Martin. I didnt know if she was ill or not,but I hope she was Jazzercising! So sorry.
