My wife Russ Wiley and I loved Violet Jane, as did my mother and father Ethel Joy Davis and Russell Burns Davis and my sister Sally Davis. She was a brilliant human being with a great sense of humor and zest for life. She and my mother went to Peabody Demonstration School together and were lifetime friends. For years, we went to her lovely Christmas parties at her house. May she be blessed to read, have new experiences, and watch birds for eternity.
Ms. Watkins was one of a kind. I last saw her sitting outside of woodcrest on the first warm spring day with her face turned up towards the sun, like the flower she and her mother before her was named for. She looked perfectly at peace and happy.
Her legacy is in the grace and humor with which she imparted innumerable history lessons. I learned so much from her. She's giving Heidi treats in Heaven and smiling down on all of her birds.
We didn't know thee well, Miss
Violet, but our rememberance
Is sharp. You always gave a
pleasant greeting, as if from
Our Saviour himself. It is also evident that You used God's purpose for you and His Love very well.Thank you. And thank you for your wonderful hospi-
tality at our Church of the Advent.
