I am shocked and saddened to hear of Karen's passing. I was one of her first patients (~96-97?), when she was getting her Ph.D. at U of Memphis. Karen helped me get through a painful situation and come out a better person. Reading this guest book, it's wonderful and inspiring to see how much she accomplished and how many people she helped during her all-too-short life. Once again, she's helping me to become and do more. Karen, you'll be missed.

I am sorry to hear about Karen

This is really sad, and I just found out about it. Karen was my therapist for quite a while and I found sessions with her very insightful. She was a lovely person. She had just gotten her dog during a few of our last sessions and I loved the way he would snuggle with you on the couch. Since it was quite a while ago that I was her patient, I had lost touch and just happened to find this today. A beautiful and caring soul has passed.

I saw Karen for two years during my time as an undergraduate at Vanderbilt.

Karen changed everything for me. (She would want me to say she helped me change everything for myself.) She helped me through so much and has forever changed my life for the better.

While I only knew Karen as my therapist, I knew what an amazing person she was outside of her cozy upstairs office. I often thought about her friends and family and wondered if they knew how much she helped people. I wondered if she helped me. Watching her memorial service online helped me realize that Karen was as appreciated by others as she was, and is, by me.

Karen's words are in my head every day and I cherish them. I continue to follow her guidance and am so thankful that I was able to connect with her in this life.

Karen wrote me a note and gave it to me on our second to last session - she someone knew I wouldn't make the last one. (Too sad to say goodbye). I keep this note framed in my room and and am so thankful for her words, "Know the power you have to live the life you choose. Be patient and kind when it appears you are stuck and just keep going..."

I never had the chance to thank Karen and tell her how much she meant to me. I hope she knew. Thank you Karen, for everything. You are loved and greatly missed. Take care.
