RV was probably the best supervisor a police officer could ever ask for. He was also an excellent mentor to me in good times or bad, personal or work. He kept me in check. I am lucky to have worked for and with him. When your decisions were right he would back his officers 100% even if it meant pressure on him. When you were wrong, he would make sure you knew it in his own special way of chewing butt. Then he would say, " do you understand" then we would go eat. It was over.
I was lucky that a few weeks ago I called him and we talked for over an hour about old times as well as our lives had changed. I will remember our conversation well and I feel so privileged in this conversation to tell him over and over of the positive impact he had made in my life and how much I appreciated him.
He will always be in my heart.
