A native of Baton Rouge, LA, he was the son of Paul Crestwell Zeagler, Sr. and Claribell Esther Ott Zeagler. Mr. Zeagler was a veteran of the. U. S. Army. Always bringing people together, Paul delighted in his community of friends and was the founder of the Zeagler Society.

I have missed this guy so much during the year since his passing. Every day about 11 am I would call or he would call and we'd decide where to have lunch. Great times together and wonderful memories for me. I suppose I'm glad he missed out on the Coronavirus, and I know he would not have enjoyed wearing a mask. Paul was a fine man and a delightful FRIEND.

Paul and I grew up together on Letitia St. in Baton Rouge. He had an older sister, Elinor, who insisted that all the kids in the neighborhood learn to dance. We were pre-teens then. His younger brother, Ed, had red hair, and when you asked Ed where he got his red hair, he would say he bought it at Crespos (a local grocery store). Paul had a girlfriend named (I believe) Wanda, even at that early age.
Paul and I got together a few times in our 20s --- about that time he met q cute girl who looked like the movie str Shirly McLane. He was working at Weirleins, and as I remember it, he went into the music business himself.
Later, in the 60s, Ed was in France at divinity school, and I was in Holland. He visited me a time or two there.
After that, we lost track of each other -- got married, lost hair, gained weight, and finally retired.

Joe and I spent time with Paul and Ed in the living room at a Zeagler family birthday gathering. I must say these two brothers are like secret national treasures. My heart is filled with love and a kind of sorrow that has a little joy in it. A life well lived and filled with love brings the joyful smile, the absence of that life brings rivers of tears. Rest In Peace, dear one.

Paul Zeagler & I met in 2002 at breakfast in Zacks, Zacks being at the intersection of wild & crazy, fun behavior, and serious world-changing discussions on Geopolitical conditions.
The Roasters Cafe meet-ups were great with even better visiting, fun, and discussions.
I learned so much from Paul, the Doctor of Philosophy and Economicsand Life.
Dr Z is one of the great ones! And one we really hate to lose. I've had good words of condolences from old & young, far & wide. Each of us feels fortunate because he gathered us into his circle of Friends. I too love him like a Brother. BRAVOS to Molly & Martha, Wanda, Ed, BJ, Eleanor (all the family) and all Paul's great friends. Over the last few months you've demonstrated what Love is all about.
